It has been a while since I posted any songs on the forum but I have been recording music and using Band-in-a-Box as my primary creative tool for a long time now. Here is one example of the many songs I've written over the years using BnB:

Let's Make Love

It's supposed to be a Buddy Holly type song for aging Boomers.

I'm still using the 2012 version of BnB. I used:

Toby Nash Rock w/Res guitar
120 BPM
Real drums
Real bass
Real guitar
Real strings

I also played my own Big Baby Taylor acoustic guitar and I played some keys using my Yamaha PSRE403. I sang the vocal through a SP1 mic into Mixcraft 5, via Cl1 interface.

Thanks for any listens and comments.

It's good to be back!

Let's Make Love

I know they don't teach in school
How to live the Golden Rule
But we're older and we know
Now's the time for letting go

Ew we
Ew we
Ew we
Come on let's make love

Do you hear the ticking clock?
It's not slow and it won't stop
I'm right here and you're right there
No one's looking, no one cares

Ew we
Ew we
Ew we
Come on let's make love

I will say
Loved the ride
So glad
You're by my side

Play those classic 45's
We're still kicking, still alive
Hold me close now, hold me tight
Right on through this summer night

Ew we
Ew we
Ew we
Come on let's make love
Come on let's make love
Come on let's make love
Come on let's make love

jpt,

Well put together. Good use of the BAND. Well mixed. Good vocal.

It does have the feel of the Holly era.

PS - a LOT of good stuff has been added since 2012.

A lot!!

Pretty good tune, but yep, time for a BIAB update (do it in December and save a boatload of money).

Creative song!! It is very effective to have the notes on the beat, particularly with a song like this with a simple message! I hear some Beatles in here!! Enjoyed!! Take care. Greg

Definitely has a 60s vibe to it. Love the sound overall.

With the backed off vocal and strong acoustic guitar it sounds like it'd fit into the Buddy'n'Bob era.

Cheers

Hello, 'jpt x 3' laugh !!!

You know what was the first thought that occurred to me while listening to Let's Make Love ??? That it had an 'innocent' sound, meaning that the feelings and sentiments expressed in your lyrics were refreshing, void of associations to the more carnal, or physical aspects of making love. The song could be a selection for a high school prom -- it's that simply romantic. The way you sang it was charmingly straightforward.

And the lyrics ??? Well, they were just as cute as they could be:

"Hold me close now, hold me tight
Right on through this summer night"

Those two lines possess a quality that could be described as 'dreamy', as they express the simple, yet rapturous pleasures of two people being smitten with each other. I could hear 'Paul and Paula', an early 60's boy-girl singing duo, crooning the song to teenagers dancers at a high school gym.

It's lovely song, really, a very nostalgic thing to listen to.

Nice one...
I picked up the acoustic...
And started singing a harmony line on the chorus...
I liked it so much I played your song again...
Playing & singing along...
Good job!

Hi jpt,

You managed to capture that Buddy Holly feel really well. I'm impressed. This was an excellent listen... engaging from start to end.

It's two thumbs up from me!
