Last night I downloaded and installed the trial version. But when I tried to use the program, there wasn't any singers in the voice database. So then I spent a considerable amount of time searching through the Synthesizer V forum for any posts that would tell me what to do next. Eventually, I found a couple that did. I also found out that there is no expiration on the trial version. The only limitation on the trial version is that a license must be purchased if the program is going to be used for commercial purposes. IOW, if a person is using the program for fun or for demos (which is my intended use---demos of BiaB arrangements of my songs), a license is not required. Commercial users can obtain a licence for $80, which is much cheaper than Vocaloid costs.

Anyway, I found out that there is only one English singer (her name is Eleanor Forte) and that she must be downloaded and installed as a separate program. Synthesizer V will have to be re-started after installation in order for it to find and load the singer. The link to download the singer program is on the same page as the link to download Synthesizer V, but you have to scroll down to find Eleanor's download button:

After I got the program working with Eleanor's voice, I used it to create a vocal track for one of my songs. Overall, I am pleased with the results and the overall process, which wasn't as difficult as I expected it to be. However, I did have to enter the lyrics manually after I imported a midi file of my melody that I had previously exported from MuseScore. It would be nice if the program would import XML files because they contain the lyrics tied to the notes in the melody. That would save a lot of time. I did see a request for that in the forum, so the company may add that option in the future. Even so, I did have to change the wording of some of my lyrics in order to get Eleanor to pronounce them properly. So, that needs a bit of improvement. Even so, the overall results were worth the time and effort. I'll post a link to my song in the User Showcase in the next few days after I fine tune it a bit more.
