Hey everyone. I am trying to add additional tracks in RB for the first time and when I generate a new realtrack, it is taking the 'cues' from the track above it. For example, if I told track A to mute at bar 5 when I created the file in BIAB, the new track I generate is muting at the same spot as well.
What do I need to do to get a full track?
Also, it got me thinking, do most of you do your muting and volume changes in RB, or whatever DAW you use? Or do you put them in the file when you create it? I have found that the mute functions can be hit or miss with RealTracks so I was thinking it might be best to generate complete tracks for all RT's and then adjust volumes in RB. The problem with that is, as far as I have found, there is no way to tell if you have made subtle changes in volume on a track...or where they take place. Are there markers of some sort that I haven't seen that indicate volume changes on a track in RealBand?
Thanks for your help.

Event list will show all control changes
Volume can also be seen in pianoroll view if you select it. Also, the sliders will move in tracks and mixer view.
I do like generating multiple RT's in RB, and then editing as needed. That's just me though.
Then again, I use 'edit-gain change' for realtracks volume adjustments often to hard-write them as opposed to CC's. Especially when it comes to muting a section. Often I'll cut it and save it on another (muted) track for safe keeping. Just some more options. I have never experienced the mute phenomena you mentioned when bringing BiaB file into RB, maybe others will test this
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!

Thanks for the info. I still can't seem to generate a RealTrack from scratch without it adopting the modifications I made to the track above it (in BIAB).
I need to figure out how to generate a fresh, complete track without mutes, and such. Hopefully someone will have experienced this.
Thanks again.

Hello Ricky,
In the Chords window, Press F5 at the bar in question and make sure the bar settings aren't being applied to 'all instruments'.

Hi Ricky, Quote:

I always generate full tracks and then mute, change volumes, pans, etc. as needed in my DAW (I uses RB and Sonar Home Studio as my DAWs). The only modification that I apply to bars is the addition of shots and holds (and very occasionally rests). That's just me, though, I prefer to have total control over my songs at the mixing end.
Regards, Noel

Nope, I have a couple instruments muted, and some back to normal. There are also other tracks playing with no changes. But the 'All Instruments' is not muted.
I have deleted the track that seems to be the "mother" of the cues and the new tracks are muted in the same places as the deleted track.
I am completely flummoxed. Anyone have any thoughts?

Okay, I am completely baffled. I went into BIAB and erased the track that seemed to be getting "copied". Not sure if it matters, but it was the soloist track. Anyway, I saved it and opened it in RealBand. Then I did the following: I right clicked on an empty track, selected "Select and Generate RealTrack" and then the track generates after about 15 seconds. The track still has the spots where it is muting, just like the Soloist track that doesn't even exist anymore.
This must be something easy and I just can't figure it out. I am happy to send the file to someone if anyone wants to try to replicate it.
I am out of ideas. Thanks again for everyone's help.

I figured it out!!! Any time the soloist track was muted, the new tracks I generated would also be muted. Why that is, I don't know. Even when there was not soloist track, it still caused the new tracks to be muted. Go figure.
That was a waste of a day. :-(

Ricky, I'd try the following. - Open the song in BIAB.
- Save as a new name.
- In Chord View, right-click on a bar, select "Bar Settings" and then choose "Reset All Bars". This will eliminate all mutings and settings that you have put in so it's VERY important that the file is saved as a new name.
- Save the file.
- Load the new file into RB and try (re)generating Realtracks.
If this works, inf RB, you can use File >> Import to import the original BIAB file into this one (or import this new one into the original one). This might give you some ideas, Noel
