Hi,

I've read a few threads about the difference in audio quality between the Audiophile pack and the others and how the quality is better in the audiophile pack.

When you listen to the demos of the RT within the Audiophile section the quality is like the demos in the other packs.

Therefore I was wondering if ALL the demos hadn't been recorded in wav files (audiophile version) so that you are seduced by them but if you buy another pack like the Ultrapack then you will be disappointed because the quality of the realtrack won't match what you heard as a demo.

So I would be interested by some testimonials of people who bought any kind of pack but the audiophile and tell if the sound quality of the RT are equal to the demos.

ps : I'm not a native English speaker so hopefully you will understand my post. Thanks!

Hello,
Yes, I have noted that when you hear the demos it sound very well, but once you select the STYLE in your song the results are not the same. FOr example, the drums seems to be different in any cases.
I believe that you refer to the audio quality but I mean about the patterns. Are these differents?
I am a little bit confused.

Thanks! I was just asking about the sound quality of the instruments and if they were matching the demos. Apparently not if I understood what you said. Can you explain a bit more how the style in your pack sound different than in the demo please ?

Real Tracks quality question

Hello and thank you for your response.
My question is different : I'm not asking about any difference betwen the sound in the Audiophile and other packs. I'm asking if the sounds that we hear in all the demos under the non audiophile packs (like the ultrapack) are exactly as heard or if all the demos have been recorded in wav and therefore are part of the audiophile pack and not the others.

Angelo,
The demos are made with the standard version, not the audiophile, so as to reproduce exactly what you’ll get. We make hundreds of demos in a very short period of time. The process is simple, pick a style, type in some chords press play and then render by dragging and dropping. Takes less than 5 minutes per demo, and nothing special is done to them.

Hi Angelo,

The UltraPAK quality is excellent. I used it for many years to create songs. These days I use the Audiophile edition. This allows me to install the UltraPAK equivalent version on my computer (which is the one I use nearly all the time). Then, when I want to arrange and publish a song, I use the Audiophile Realtracks and Realdrums to create the music.

If you go to the USERS SHOWCASE forum, most of the songs presented there will be done using the wma versions of the Realtracks and Realdrums found in all packages except the Audiophile version... some will use the Audiophile (WAV) versions of Realtracks and Realdrums. If you listen, you'll find it difficult to tell the difference.

Hope this helps,
Noel

If I understand Dr. Gannon's comments correctly, another way to say this is that none of the demos use audiophile quality.

It would also be difficult to do audiophile quality demos that are downloaded from the website, as these would be quite slow to load by comparison.

So if you have the audiophile version, the RealTracks should actually be BETTER than the demos.

Bah...audiophile...I prolly can't hear the difference. And everyone else in the world can't hear the difference when listening to my songs because 1) no one is listening to my songs and 2) even if they were they'd be using $5 earbuds that sound worse than my old ArcherKit 8 Transistor Portable Radio Kit!

Back on subject; for the internet the smaller file sizes work better.

Plus the next 2 points;
Most users get the regular tracks (not audiophile)
Even the ones with the audiophile version will end up compressing for posting on the web usually (or getting compressed by the site they post to).
So your real life end result will likely be like the demos.

If you 'need' better track quality the audiophile version can add a slight improvement, IF you are keeping everything uncompressed all the way through.
How much better? That value can only be determined by the user, but most RTs in standard wma format mix well with 16/44 or 24/48 tracks in my experience.
They don't stand out much (if at all) and when they do a little EQ or compression usually brings them up to snuff.

I am involved in one CD project currently where the Realdrums for one song out of fourteen were generated from BiaB wma tracks and not a single listener has noticed the difference in those drums compared to the live drums we recorded with 8 mics in raw WAV format on 8 separate tracks on the other songs.
Not a single one. And we intentionally picked a few 'audiophile' type listeners for input. (they invest thousands and thousands in sound systems for detail and critical listening .. and would likely not be happy if I pointed out this result)

It's not empirical evidence, but it is some pretty convincing real world results. We really were open to see if anyone noticed and nobody did.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Matt,
Yes, exactly.

On a similar point, I’ve read online discussions from audio experts on distribution of sound content, and the consensus is that 44.1 Khz/16 is the best distribution format (which is the audiophile). The point is that distributing in higher audio format than that was not considered beneficial (e.g. 48khz, 24 bit). The point being a 44.1/16 bit file imported into a 48KHz/24 bit DAW project sounds the same as if it was 48/24bit to begin with.

This “distribution format” is not to be confused with mixing and recording a project, which benefits from higher rates (48, 96KHz) and 24 bit. And of course we record and mix the RealTracks at these higher rates (typically 48KHz/24 bit) , and only the final mix is to 44.1/16 for distribution.
