Yes. I only have one track highlighted. Example, I'll have 4 midi tracks and two audio tracks. I put the mouse pointer on the number 1 in track view ( First track). Left click and drag it onto the DAW. It will then ask me if I want to merge data or explode the tracks. No matter which option I choose it will create the one track with midi data and then create the reat of the tracks, with track names, but no mid data on those tracks. If I then choose another track and repeat this the same thing happens, by the time I have dragged 4 tracks my DAW has created 16 tracks. 4 with data and 12 with nothing. Only happens when dragging Midi and does this in both Cubase ( old version) and Reaper. I have an older copy of Cakewalk that I haven't tried this with. I think it must be a setting.
My setup is XP SP3 with an EMU soundcard and mysynths are connected via a MOTU midiexpress 8 bay patch bay. I don't use any internal sounds but port everything through my hardware synths which is why I want to use the DAW feature.
Thanks,
