Under "Print Options" in the Lead Sheet Window, there are two places to disable lyrics. (The upper image below.)
This won't stop them from showing up on the screen though in Lead Sheet view.
What you could do is print a PDF file with lyric display disabled and then use that PDF.
I don't know if this will help.
Regarding shifting the lyric position.... this is found in "Notation Options" and by entering positive or negative numbers it's possible to move the lyrics up and down. (The lower image below.)
