Unless you have your copyright registered at the LOC, I don't believe you can file an infringement suit. The LOC will expedite your registration -- for about $500. I can't see any any infringement lawsuits that are worth anything anyway -- the legal fees are just too exorbitant. Now, if you have LOC registration you can recover legal fees -- if the other party doesn't go bankrupt.

In short, you really don't have any protection no matter what you do -- unless you have a song that is making big, big bucks.
