I realize that's pretty vague. Sorry. I was exporting a song into individual tracks. A yellow box in the lower right-hand corner popped up but disappeared before I could read it completely. It said I might like to go into preferences and enable something that would make the tracks blended together better but it might slow down rendering.
This was one audiophile 2019 I just got 2020 but have not plugged it in quite yet. That feature might be standard in 2020. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

In your BB folder (usually C:\BB)
Go to the data folder and check FlashMessageLog.txt
It may reveal more info.

Otherwise, maybe it was suggesting you enable/disable a setting in Options-Prefs-Realtracks
(enable reverb, reduce RT volume to match MIDI .. or such)
How was the end result? You may be able to ignore it if everything seems fine.
From your description it sounds more like a suggestion than a warning.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Oh no doubt it was just a suggestion, there isn't a problem. I just forgot what it was the yellow Box wanted me to try enabling. laugh

As rharv suggested, everything in those yellow/green etc colored boxes is also written to the message file. Note that the latest messages are at the top of the file, and the entries have date/timestamps.

You can also view that file from the Help menu:
Help > Utilities > Display log text file of Yellow/Green messages

Maybe you can alter the duration of those messages here.
I havent tried it but it looks like you can easily change the number from 24000ms to whatever.

I wonder if the message might have been to set the tempo and pitch shifting parameters to "High". By default, it is set at medium.

Noel
A bit of thread drift - if using a slow PC what would be the effect of setting it on High please?
Ian

Hi Ian,

On a slower PC, setting the option to high could cause the PC to stutter unless the option to "Speed up generation" is turned off. This would be especially noticeable with uptempo songs.

For those who read this and are not sure of what I mean, I'll explain a little more thoroughly below.

1. Using "High" quality stretching takes more processor power.

2. Normal BIAB operation is to partially generate a song, then start the song playing. While the song plays, BIAB completes the generating of the backing tracks. This is a hefty load for the computer's processor.

3. "Speed up generation" is seen immediately above the highlighted tempo stretching options on the image above. By disabling the speed-up option, BIAB is set to generate a backing track completely before playback starts. This is a global setting. (This setting can be set on a song-by-song basis by right-clicking on the chordsheet, selecting "Song settings" and then selecting "This song has playback problems".)

While it will take a little longer to generate a song with the speed-up option off, it reduces processor load by separating Realtrack generation and playback.

4. So, for a slower computer, if one chooses to have high quality tempo stretching of Realtracks' audio, it is better to separate the demand on the processor so that track generation and playback are performed independently rather than together.

Regards,
Noel

That, Sir, is a superb explanation. Many thanks.

Hi again, Ian.

I'm glad it made sense.

Hope you and your family have a good Christmas. Are you heading out to Sydney again this year? It's not very pleasant up there right now with all the bush-fires. I hope your son and his family are ok.

Regards,
Noel

Hi Noel
Thank you. I hope the same for you.
We are out in 2020, probably September-ish time. They are in Penrith, 50k west of Sydney and the fires are all around but so far not too close. They are by the Nepean River which is big and broad so may cut off any threat from the north and west, eg the Blue Mountains. Air quality at the moment is a bigger worry - its full of ash.
Best regards
Ian
