Can those who know the etiquette of this forum tell me if there's a place here for feedback or input on song ideas and works in progress? The User Showcase is clearly for finished works, which maybe need a bit of polishing, and I don't want to be cluttering up the Songwriting forum with a bunch of links to some half baked 4 bar chorus. Let's say I have something that I like but I have this very bad feeling that it's just really just "Just the Way You Are" or "Does Anybody Know What Time It Is" in disguise? Or maybe I have a song stub that I think is great and it's really a wet noodle?
I can see that there might be some concerns about retaining rights when you've posted something that is not fully baked, and there's really no way to protect it, but in my case I don't believe that is an issue.
I'd like to hear how you all handle those and if there's a place for it in one of the forums.

Hi Ed, Just my opinion - the Users Showcase is for finished songs - people may change minor things that were pointed out that they didn't hear or missed and repost a link but that is quite different from what you are describing.
I would hate to see the showcase cluttered up with "ideas" and "rough drafts" or "bits and pieces". It's a very busy forum these days with lots of songs posted.
It's hard enough to keep up with all the finished songs on there without folks hard work getting lost in the shuffle of someone really wanting a group co-write or consensus and feedback on ideas. So I don't believe that's the proper place for that sort of thing.
If you're having trouble writing/finishing a whole song, stuck, don't know which way to go on your song idea, then I'd post it in the songwriing forum. I believe that forum is intended for more than a bunch of links to songwriting articles and videos. It's also intended for the songwriters on the board to help one another if they so choose.
If you're having trouble mixing your song, I'd post it in the Production forum which I also believe is intended for more than links to production articles and videos. And is a place where folks help each other with production related matters.

I agree with Sundance. The "Songwriting" forum would be a great fit for what you want.
