Hello,
I have just Upgraded to version 2020 Pro ($69) and installed everything on my laptop, Rebuilt the Styles and it only shows 19 new ones but according to the description found on the Packages page, it should be more than 750.

I am very confused...??

Are those 750+ Style Repeats from my existing Styles?
I already had more than 4300 styles on my computer.

I appreciate if someone could explain the above.

Thanks.

Hi,

If you are meaning the summary of information found at the link below...

https://www.pgmusic.com/bbwin.packages.pro.htm

...this details what the Pro package contains in full. It is not a description of what is added when upgrading from an older version of the program.

It looks like the 750 that you mention relates to MIDI styles and not Realtracks nor Realstyles.

To get a better understanding of this, I encourage you to talk to a sales rep. using Live Chat. (It's the blue square with a circle in it found on the lower right of the web page.)

Regards,
Noel

Tried that but Neil from PG does not reply.

The Pro Package is the entry level package (despite the name). Other than getting the new version of the application itself, it seems the content you get (styles, RealTracks/RealDrums, etc) don't change much from year to year. You should look at the MegaPak or the UltraPak (which you can still upgrade for the difference in price you paid if you call PGMusic) if you want additional styles and RT/RD/MIDI content.

I have just talked to Alyssa from PG Music and she confirmed that upgrading from 2018 to 2020 will not bring any new Styles, instruments or RealTracks.
Years ago I purchased the EVERYTHING PACK, so any new upgrades of the Standard BIAB Pro software will NOT add any new instruments as the Everything Pack already covered it.

I told her that it is misleading and confusing as the advert on the packages page, it clearly says that the user will get new Realtracks, Realstyles, loops, etc. etc.

IF YOU HAVE PURCHASED A BIGGER PACKAGE IN THE PAST, YOU WILL ONLY GET MORE REALTRACKS AND THE LIKE, ONLY IF YOU BUY A EVEN BIGGER PACKAGE, or separate extra packages, OTHERWISE YOU'LL ONLY GET THE MAIN SOFTWARE UPGRADED.

Now, that's not difficult to specify on the product options, PG MUSIC!!

Glad I did not upgraded last year, saved me some money towards this BIAB 2020 Pro software, and it looks like I won't be upgrading for a while to come.

Am I annoyed? Hell Yeah! I was offered a refund, but it was Time Consuming hassle to download and install the software and I did not want to undo it and go over it again to downgrade and maybe corrupting my computer file system... not worth more hassle.

Maybe I should have paid $49 (2020 Program Update)
and not $69 (Upgrade from 2018 or earlier or crossgrade).

I am not sure now if the BONUS Pack is also stuff that I already have from my Everything Pack.
The more I talk about it, The more confused I am...

Rant Over.

Now going to find out all these new improvements about the 2020 version in Reaper, but not wasting my time with RealBand.

Seems like to get all the new Realtracks and stuff in other words to have it all again, you would need to buy the upgrade form 2018 or earlier Ultra Pak at $169, plus any other optional loops or Xtra style and 49 Pak.

Best to ask PG direct.

biab-user,

If it's possible to go the extra US$100 to get the UltraPak, you will gain heaps of Realtracks. The ProPak has just over 300 Realtracks while the UltraPak has a bit over 2,900 Realtracks.

Noel

I should get the information directly from the "Packages" options.
It has taken years to find this out. They need to be transparent about it.

Why would I need to spend $100 more, when I already paid for it years ago?
Like I already stated, I have more than 4300 Styles and Loads of RealTracks.

I urge people to not to spend more money for something they already have on their computer.

The applet for the current software type finder did not report that I already have the Everything Pak, instead it reported this:

You have a Pro package of Band-in-a-Box® 2020, which means you are eligible for the following upgrades:....

shocked PG Music to solve this issue or remove it from confusing people.

But you have an old version of The Everything Pak going back a few years, lots of new Content has been created since you bought that Everything Pak.

So more New Realtracks exist that are not included in the basic packages like the pro pak.

At the end of the day I am sure you will agree its a personal decision whether to upgrade or not to the fuller packages.

I am not from PG Music but here is my take on the above...

It sounds like you ran the applet after installing BIAB 2020 ProPAK. To pick up what you had previously, it seems like the app would have needed to have been run prior to 2020's installation.

One other way to find out what you have, is to go to your Sales Account and have a look under My Products.

By the way, I don't know if this has been mentioned but if you are not happy, ask PG Music for a refund. They never quibble about this if you are within the "30 Day after purchase" time frame.

Regards,
Noel

OK, so, how do I find out what are the different files between what I already paid for and the new ones included in the new software?

This proves the fact that it does not take into account of past software... the one that had many more RealTracks and RealStyles than the much newer one!

Anyway, Noel, I am happy with the software! It is just the confusion of it all. If I knew about this before buying it, I would have saved myself the extra $20, by just gone with the program update. It's installed now. I don't like wasting time undoing it up with the possible chance of corrupting a stable laptop.

Thank you for your input on this.

Go to help at right side top of biab and click on the dropdown what addons do I have, it should show you all the new realtracks you are missing, if you want to you can drag and select all the details in that box and copy it in reply to forum.

The

"RealDrums sets in C:\bb\Drums\ : (this shows no info but there are lots of sub folders in it. Maybe buggy software?)"

is not a bug - if you look it is under heading:

"These add-ons are NOT (emphasis mine) found"

if you want to see your real drums there should be a "verbose" section between Soloists and Realtracks that lists the RealDrums your installed

As Realtracks sets 301-352 cover the last two years new content(sets 301-328 being 2019) that last list of realtracks at first glance seems to indicate a lot of realtracks missing, so maybe you haven't upgraded in a good number of years, the good news though is it will only cost you the same amount to upgrade an older everything pak to the 2020 Ultra Pak which is $169

Wss it the Everuything pak you bought in 2018 (As you do say that once you bought it) or was it the pro oak, the point being that once you have bought the best pak such as the Everything or Ultra its never really cost effective and can only lead to confusion if you upgrade to a lessor pak in future years.

It can be really confusing I know, but once you have this years ultra pak in future years it is generally only the Plus pak per year you need, to keep you current which this year is once again $99.

If you did buy an everything pak in 2018 then I am surprised that so many realtracks missing, ok there are added additons you can buy at an extra cost called the 49 pak but I would not think that so many realtracks are missing if that is indeed what the last list shows.

Stay with it, you will get it sorted.

Ah ok well the purchase of that Everything Pak is still in a sense paying you a dividend as it entitles you to upgrade to the Ultra Pak at the special price while the sale lasts if you decide to do so.

I would think that if you decide to do so then its only the difference that you have to pay for this years purchase pro-Ultra.

Then if you decide to upgrade at end of year 2020 it will only be $99 for the Plus pak, if that price still remains the same as it has done for years.

Happy New Year to you and happy music making.
