What you are experiencing is latency. You can usually remedy this by using ASIO drivers in your audio interface. MME and WAS driver can/will cause latency.

More information on your system, include what you are using for an audio interface, sometimes called a sound card, would help us. Check what drivers come with your audio interface. If there are no ASIO drivers then you can try the free ASIO4ALL. ASIO4ALL wraps MME/WAS drivers and fools the sound card into believing its ASIO. Sometimes this works, sometime not. The best solution is to get an audio interface that has its own, native, ASIO drivers.
