Hi folks,

I was just wondering if its a good idea when doing a song in biab and trying to get the best realtracks and realdrums to suit, is it a good idea just to load maybe 16 bars into biab at start so that it donesn't take too long to generate both thus saving time?

Interested to know the way you do it.

thanks
Joe

Yes - this is a good approach, but you should try and get both an 'A' and a 'B' section within those 16 bars so that you can check that the chosen pattern is suitable for both section styles. Also check that you have set the 'number of choruses' setting to '1' otherwise it will generate the 16 bars three times over (taking three times as long!).

I have noticed that real solo instruments take a lot longer to generate than the other real instruments so it is a good idea to audition your other real instruments before adding a solo.

Regards, Aubrey

Well, with Version 2010 regeneration takes much less time.
So that is not as much of an issue any more.

But, yeah, I'd assume the bulk of the song fits in 16 bars anyway so that is the approach I use.

And I agree 100% with having the 'a' and 'b' parts there too so you can hear that in your tests.

You can also use the style filter search menu to see if there is a suitable RT Style. Find a similar midi style by artist or name search in style filter, then select change prototype. Set the "if feel and tempo match" parameter and click on Real Style in the left hand column of the style list. If there is a similar one, it will be listed and you can demo it by pressing the play button while style filter is open.

I don't mind waiting a few more seconds in order to get something worth the time.

I've found the new "freeze" function to be helpful for this. I audition each instrument, and then freeze the ones I like while I'm auditioning the others. That way each real track/real drum does not need to regenerate. Once I've found the instruments I like, I then unfreeze all of them until I can lock in an arrangement that I like.

And speaking about this topic, as discussed in another thread, it would be way cool if BiaB always started from the begininng each time a new Style was selected instead of picking up where the last one was stopped.
