Hi Horst,
this is undoubtedly another very cool and interesting song, everything fine about it.
Perhaps this is my very individual opinion and our forum friends have another perception, but I think you should slam on the brakes with your postings - you're publishing so many - really excellent ! - songs within a couple of days that I think that in the end you're selling them under price.
I like to listen to a song, get a certain impression, and maybe think about the author and his production for a while and, most of all, reading other folks' comments I want to know which song they are talking about.
With so many songs in a row I don't have the slightest chance to remember which song was which and I'm almost inevitably losing interest (which is a real pity especially in your case).
And I am losing a lot of my curiosity: Normally I think,'Hey, Janice and Bud (or whoever) posted a new song, I'm really nosy to find out what the come up with this time.' I admittedly don't have that sort of feeling when I see an author's name three times on one single forum page. It's the incredible versatileness that attracts this forum so much to me.
Like I said: Others may have a different view, but I think that one new song every few weeks would make your (I repeat: excellent!!!!) work more precious.
I do hope that you don't get me wrong, and of course I'm open for different opinions.

I'm a newbie so, I'm learning a little about BIAB and enjoying all the great songs people are offering up here.
The forum is pretty rich with content and I hope to be diving in deeper over time.
Based on the few songs I've heard from you, I'm intrigued by your lyrical style.
The songs are almost like short stories.
This song is one more great example of that........well done.
Maybe because I'm new and somewhat overwhelmed with all the stuff on this forum,
I could immediately relate to the comment by Crossroads.
I've only been here a few days and its already becoming difficult to keep pace with all the players and songs.
I'm not suggesting you change anything, just making an observation.

I would echo Crossroads suggestions. I'd also like to know what you used to create these wonderful songs. What part was BIAB, what parts were performed by you, what was MIDI, etc. Thanks!

The reason I'm posting so many songs is I'm getting ready to release an album....just wanted to get a few opinions about my music and get a good feel if you guys think it might be sell-able. I do appreciate all of the great feed back I'm getting. The musicians here on the forum are great and I listen very closely to everything they say.
Thank you to all who have listened and have enjoyed and given feed back.
RealBand could be a great program if more effort were given to that product. I don't care for BIAB and don't use it....I don't know if some of you may feel the same way. I wish it were a separate product so developers could spend more time on it.
Now I need to focus on Mastering these songs and don't have a clue where to start.

thanks a lot for your reply - of course I do understand your intention. And I am absolutely sure that your album will be sellable - I mentioned that I think your productions are really top-notch.
But I still think that if you want to have profound feedback for a certain song it might be better to not 'overfeed' potential commentators. Again, this may not go for others, but it does for me: I'm running out of words when I have to comment on - in a way - similiar productions.
Whatever: I think you deserve success with our songs and I do wish you the very best with your plans.
Your remarks on RealBand were really interesting: I don't think that many of this forum's members use RealBand at all - reading their 'technical song data' made me think that we (my wife who does the sound jobs) and I as composer / arranger) are the onkly ones.
I 'design' my songs roughly in BIAB and import them into RealBand, because I can generate additional tracks, have parts of tracks re-generated and so on - things that can only be done there and which I make extended use of.
But, yes, this is not always sheer pleasures: It's still 32 bit, I encounter quite a lot if problems with VST plug-ins, that strange scrolling behaviour drives me nuts and it crashes frequently on any of the 3 PCs I'm using it on.
I agree that it might become a pretty good DAW (especially because of the full BIAB functionality), if PGMusuc would decide to develop it, but I also do understand what keeps them from doing so:
As long as it is included in the BIAB packs, this will be a loss-making operation, because no-one would buy BIAB just because a good DAW is included. And if they'd sell it separately they will have a lot of very good and most of all very cheap competitors: Reaper, for instance, is a good DAW and it cost but 60 bucks.
Not so long ago I asked the PG support about their future plans for RealBand, but I never got a reply and since they haven't put much, if any, effort in developping the app, I'm not confident that they will in the future. And providing the BIAB functionality - at least partly - via VST for other DAWs may be another hint.
Personally I would like to stick to RealBand, even if this was simply because I do like PGMusic as a very sympathetic and musician-orientated enterprise, but who knows what their plans are...

there are simple things one usually does when part of a forum community.
#1 is follow the rules of the forum
in this instance they are...
*Link to the song (it is not hosted on our site, it is hosted on your site). TICK
*Title and background information about the song.TICK
*Indicate which tracks were recorded by you, and which tracks were generated by Band-in-a-Box or RealBand.
*If Band-in-a-Box or RealBand have been used, please provide information as to which styles or RealTracks were used. (tip: In Band-in-a-Box, the Song Memo contains the names of the RealTracks used, and you can copy/paste from that.)
*List other programs used in the production (Sonar, Cubase etc.)
*Describe what effects were used in the production (reverb, auto-tune etc).
*Please limit the threads on this forum to the User Showcase postings. Off-topic threads will be moved to the off-topic forum
#2 is participate. That translates to responding to comments on your posts and listening to, as well as commenting on, the posts of others. Now, this isn't a rule and not all people on this forum fully participate - one or two have explained the circumstances relating of their inability to do these things.
#3 is don't be a FLYBY which is someone who uses the forum solely for their own benefit or to gather clicks on another site, and moves on.
#4 is pace yourself for the sake of others. My passive response to those who post and don't participate or are rapid fire thread starters, is to ignore them.
#5 is be positive with comments or critiques - this means attempting to couch crits in positive ways like offering a suggestion as to how to address a problem etc. Now, I've been guilty of offering crits & suggestions where unwanted - many people post, what is to them, completed pieces on the forum and aren't interested in making changes or addressing issues for a variety of reasons. The clue on this particular forum is to look for the invitation to comment and critique. I'm learning that slowly.
You've an album to polish? Perhaps post a song & add a link with your explanation and an invitation to pop over and comment there.
I'm relatively new to this forum and have ruffled some feathers, taken note and made adjustments.
Your stuff is good, I'd like to listen to more of it but my response to #4 stands for the moment.

This to me was a blast back to the way it was done back in the 70s, That's a compliment from me !!.
Because to me that is when the music was music, the band bread comes to mind.

Hello Horst,
You made a nice song! But it is also a bit of a bold song, to my opinion. Because it is so sweet like honey.
Nothing much happens in this song. That makes it predictable on the one hand, but lovely on the other hand.
Something with a medieval sphere.
The instrument you used are well chosen. So well done!

Horst, I couldn't find much wrong with this song. It is really well produced, the backing and especially the bass sits sensationally.
Th only think I might suggest is to use a de-esser(?) on the vocal breaths, as they became more and more noticeable.

Notwithstanding, this is a beautiful song, well delivered, and very listenable.

"Musically good" and "saleable" are two different things. Without question, your song is falls into the "musically good" category. It's well sung, heartfelt, music, and nicely mixed. It sounds a lot more "MIDI" than your prior posts, and I dislike that sound. But I'm probably not your target audience. But saleable? That's a different animal entirely. If you're posting here to see if sales-worthy your music is, I don't think this is the right place for that. You'll get positive feedback on your song, and often constructive criticism. But the focus here isn't making something that's more commercial. Personally, I think you've got very limited audience. It's got nothing to do with the quality of your material. I just don't know what kind of demand there is for music literally written in the '70s, but that never had any airplay at the time. If you're currently gigging with this set of songs, there's no need to test your music out here. But if you're planning on just releasing this into the market without having built-in audience... best of luck with that.
