Find Your Happiness

I’ve been thinking about you, she said
I wonder what is going on
Mainly books that I could recommend
You might like to read
You might like to read
You might like to read

I haven’t been in contact for so long
Do you still count me as a friend?
I wouldn’t blame you if you chose not to respond
We will never meet again
Never meet again
We’ll never meet again

I’ll correspond as often as you like
I have always been a writer
Hope you don’t mind if I drop a hint or two
How happy I am now
How happy I am now
How happy I am now

Sometimes things work out for the best
Even though you thought your world was ending
Sometimes you find your happiness
Even though you thought your world was ending

I’ve been thinking about you, she said
This old world can be a strange place
The moon is shining down on both of us tonight
We each found our own place
Found our own place
We found our own place

Sometimes things work out for the best
Even though you thought your world was ending
Sometimes you find your happiness
Even though you thought your world was ending

Sometimes things work out for the best
Even though you thought your world was ending
Sometimes you find your happiness
Just when you thought your world was ending

Alright!

Sweet piece. I like the theme and the lyric. Delivery was happy-sounding befitting. The band is solid and the lead guitar really takes over in the moved to minor and the building energy to the end. Well done, Gentlemen.

Peter, IMHO this is your best to date.

These lines caught my attention as it is so real life:
"Sometimes things work out for the best
Even though you thought your world was ending
Sometimes you find your happiness
Just when you thought your world was ending"

Everything about this is great!

I really liked this one.

Love the acoustic. Excellent vocal and harmonies. Guitar break was very cool. Gave the song a cool dynamic

You nailed it in your description - this is indeed an upbeat little ditty.

I've been reviewing some lyric writing techniques employed by some of my favorite writers, and you use two that are at the top of my "To Do" songwriting list:

  • Repeat lyrics
  • Rhyme words with the same word.

I enjoyed the song, and it made me feel happy. What more could I want from a song? smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

That very 1st guitar note is a little loud but the rest sit nicely in the track.
Rumination that things aren't all ruination is important.
Nice song and it sounds good too. The outro guitars is very cool.

Cheers

Peter & Leon,

That is an interesting lyric. And interestingly, I found a good deal of sadness and melancholy in it. I had a feeling it was intended (though I could be wrong).

The acoustics and organ make a nice bed for the song. Leon's vocal seems to speak to both the "happy" and the "sad".

Cool guitar (as always).

A well written sad song which is also a happy song...
With a positive message for all who will listen.

Your chorus sums it up very succinctly...
"Sometimes things work out for the best
Even though you thought your world was ending
Sometimes you find your happiness
Even though you thought your world was ending"

Good job as usual guys...
I enjoyed listening!

"Rumination that things aren't all ruination is important."

Ray has a way with words and the above is well, well worth repeating!

Simply a great write in message, structure and rhyme scheme.

The band is great and Janice immediately liked the bass before her
bass player husband had zeroed in on it smile

No disappointments on the always great guitar and a superb outro.

The Leon vocal and Peter harmony deliver the message most excellently.

Another fine tune from the duo!

J&B

PS Almost forgot..very effective build.

Thanks Ray
Just before I posted it I somehow in the DAW doubled the first phrase - too late to fix now but deleted in the master.

Peter & Leon

It's great to start with an acoustic folk narrative and then switch to rock sound halfway.
Leon's vocals are very natural.
Guitar sojo is splendid as usual.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Peter & Leon,
Sometimes its hard to know if Leon`s really happy when he sounds happy; there`s the tongue-in-cheek in many of his fine lines. Well that`s how I hear some of the story here:

I haven’t been in contact for so long
Do you still count me as a friend?
I wouldn’t blame you if you chose not to respond
We will never meet again

I like the ambiguity in that!
Catchy chorus and some of the best guitar I`ve heard from Peter on the outro.
A very good song,gentlemen!

Hello Peter and Leon,

I can only agree with the nice compliments you received already here.
The band plays well and your voices fits very well in it.

Enjoyed it,
Hans

Love it Peter! The verse section reminds so much of some of McCartneys first solo album! Great chorus! Thanks, Torrey
