That is an interesting lyric. And interestingly, I found a good deal of sadness and melancholy in it. I had a feeling it was intended (though I could be wrong).
The acoustics and organ make a nice bed for the song. Leon's vocal seems to speak to both the "happy" and the "sad".

Sweet punch in the mix right from upper left. That acoustic guitar opening is perfect, and love that sound with the upright bass. Is that Brent Mason, and you on the electric? The mix is rich, the words are perfect for the bounce in the song, and the lead guitar makes the whole thing come together.

A well written sad song which is also a happy song...
With a positive message for all who will listen.
Your chorus sums it up very succinctly...
"Sometimes things work out for the best
Even though you thought your world was ending
Sometimes you find your happiness
Even though you thought your world was ending"

"Rumination that things aren't all ruination is important." Ray has a way with words and the above is well, well worth repeating! Simply a great write in message, structure and rhyme scheme. The band is great and Janice immediately liked the bass before her bass player husband had zeroed in on it  No disappointments on the always great guitar and a superb outro. The Leon vocal and Peter harmony deliver the message most excellently. Another fine tune from the duo! J&B PS Almost forgot..very effective build. J&B Thanks - there is certainly some nice bass playing on that real track. Appreciate the comments on the guitar and song generally. Peter

Sometimes its hard to know if Leon`s really happy when he sounds happy; there`s the tongue-in-cheek in many of his fine lines. Well that`s how I hear some of the story here:
I haven’t been in contact for so long
Do you still count me as a friend?
I wouldn’t blame you if you chose not to respond
We will never meet again
I like the ambiguity in that!
Catchy chorus and some of the best guitar I`ve heard from Peter on the outro.

It's great to start with an acoustic folk narrative and then switch to rock sound halfway.
Leon's vocals are very natural.

I really liked it, the lyrics are strong, they reminded me of the first verse in Paul Simon's "Still Crazy...."
Liked the solos as well. Well done all around.

Yet another really captivating and very enjoyable song.
The groove is engaging, the melody and lyrics are excellent, the backing and solo guitars shine brightly, the arrangement is first class and the performance is the cream on a connoisseur's cup of fine coffee.
