I worked most of the day yesterday trying to replace a midi bass line. I am using my wife's HP laptop that she bought new in November of last year and never fired up until a month or so ago. To be very honest I don't know much about sound cards and midi drivers etc. When I run the Driver Wizard in BIAB I am showing No MIDI/sound input and Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth for the MIDI Output. As I work to put the bass line in when I play back the song the timing doesn't seem correct, like I have plugged the notes into BIAB incorrectly. I also have Guitar Pro that I use for transcribing music. So I plugged the bass lines into GP and it plays in time and sounds correct. When I plug the same note duration into BIAB it doesn't seem to sound correct. Timing seems a little off. Do you think this is a function of a cheap sound card in this laptop?

Do you know of any software program that would allow me to import a wave file of the original song that would convert the bass line to midi so I could just load it into BIAB? I'm guessing it would not be able to isolate the bass track and the entire song would be one massive midi mess in the piano roll view??

I have searched the web for audio to midi conversions but most of what I saw seemed to not get the best reviews.
