There are many free tools that will achieve the “mastering” process.

One could easily use a chain of:
1. A good EQ.
2. Then Limiter 6 (free) to do compression and limiting etc.
3. MeldaProduction Manalyser or Voxengo Span to check frequency spread.
4. Youlean LUFS meter (which is easier and as good as Izotope Insite IMHO).

The Manalyzer has a number of expected graphs similar but in my opinion not as good as the Izotope Tonal Balance Control.

I thought the article explained quite nicely the relationship particularly between Peak and RMS and what one might do to check the level and get them where wanted.
