I was of the opinion that MIDI 2.0 standard adoption would stabilize documentation so implementation could truly begin. I'm discovering that opinion is incorrect. Now that there is a standard to follow, developers can start working on specifications!

For example, midi currently can be transmitted over multiple transport mediums including five pin DIN, nine pin and 1/8" TRS serial, ethernet, bluetooth and USB to name a few. Specifications will need to be developed for each transport medium. A task force has met once to begin development on a USB transport specification.
