A quick ditty I wrote with Torrey Bliss.
Superb drummer Greg Loyacano played & recorded the blistering guitar tracks.
BIAB did the drums.
I played bass.
Torrey edited the lyric and wrote an excellent melody and recorded the main, doubled and two harmony vocals.
Torrey & Greg have created a vehicle to carry off this little tale of Winston & Julia.
I was particularly thankful to Torrey as he's a VERY busy fellow and as such a superb writer performer and recordist he didn't need the distraction...
This song isn't finished - still mixing so welcome any suggestions, comments etc.

Based on the suggestions below

OK, I've had to reduce some bottom end in the guitars to allow the bass' bottom end to peak through.
More Vox n Bass
Lyrics...
NEXT!...
A little more tweaking based on the comments offered and a few others as well..
12th Feb mix

It’s not thought crime.
Don’t you see,
We’re out of time?
We’re out of time.

There’s nowhere to hide,
When you and me makes two.
In a private hell and overcoat,
Like wearing dead man's shoes.
Dancing away dystopia
Language becoming a gaol.
Self-fulfilling bureaucracy,
Hammers the nail

It’s not pantomime.
‘neath the chestnut tree,
We are out of time.
We are out of time.

We are dead, you & me,
And you know that it is crystalline
Rewrite our history,
Truth claims our last line.
Walking upstairs once again,
Screams behind the grate.
At today’s iteration,
For now, we will wait.

When will bells chime?
Oh, Julia spat,
We are out of time.
We are out of time.

Solo

This is not my thought crime,
Two plus two makes five.
We are out of time.
We are out of time.
OUTRO
It’s your thought crime,
Can’t you see,
We were out of time?
We are out of time.

Ray & Torrey,

Excellent Rock song. Super vocals.

The guitars sound great. But I do think that they are mixed above all else - like they are the most important thing. Only slightly, but still enough to call attention to themselves (in that manner). In comparison (to the nicely panned guitars and the blistering solo), the vocal seems just slightly "back" (I think it should have equal billing with those guitars)...the bass could be slightly more prominent, and the kick is pretty "dull" (I know we have completely differing preferences when it comes to kicks).

Not to detract from how truly ROCKIN'!! this is - because it is!

Y'all do this better than anyone around.

Ray & Torrey

Agree with Floyd, I cannot make out most of the vocals and it sounds like no bass to complement the drums.

It does have a rock feeling defo...but guitars are too strong and over powering, I started listening with the headphones though I had to resort to speakers.

All in All this tweaked will be a great sounding rock song.

Thanks

Great rock, would like to hear Torrey's voice the way I hear it on his own recordings but this rocks great, had me jumping around and looking for the mosh pit.

voices do need to come up a good bit, but nevertheless, this has plenty of potential

Listening to the tweaked version, vocals sound good in mix - not however getting a lot of bass guitar.
Guitars sound nicely mixed.

Good song - very nice vocal by Torrey.

Hi Ray and Torrey,

this is gonna be an A+ rock song, because the tune itself is gorheous and catchy, the instrumentation works well and Torrey proofs once again that he can perfectly sing whatever genre comes along .

I just listened to the 12th Feb mix - I do hear the kick well, but no bass lines at all...

Looking forward for the final version !!!!

Regards,

Stefan

Cool. We've always thought the lower gain vocal was characteristic of this style rock.

Fun!

I listened to the Feb 12 mix. Instrument mix sounds good (and kicks butt). The vocal needs a little more presence.

Ray and Crew,
This is powerful stuff! A classic R@R tune without cutting any corners.
Very intricate. Considering that it is a little outside of Torrey scope of genre, he done fabulous job. Instrumentation is amazing! As prominent forum member told me once: "opinions are like elbows - everybody has some" smile So here are my two: I think vocals should come up a little forward and so is the bass... basing on final revision. In any case, I think it is a Radio quality tune and maybe should be offered to proper Rock station. Congrats to all participants! Thank you for sharing.

Misha.

P.S. I still do not know how I skipped this. I think Showcase is in booming phase now.
