not a problem for the current project but i'm curious. to make life easy i mixed down the backing i'm using (all RealTracks) and exported to wav format. same with the guitar solo and guide vocal. so for the final mix i only have three faders to worry about and can eq the whole of the backing if necessary!
opened new RB project and imported and all seem to paste at beat 3 of bar 1 although the count in starts exactly right immediately as if pasted to bar 1 beat 1 but the bar lines are off.
i don't need the bar lines as such as everything is now audio and i'll be recording new vocals but i'm curious as to why it happened.
previously i've imported wav files to existing projects with no problem but maybe it was opening a new file that has caused the problem. any answers?

It sounds like the -2 bar count in setting may not be the same between the recorded audio and the RB import. Also, for the bars to be correct, so does the tempo between the two projects.
Just guesses but those have both been issues for me in the past.

I agree with Charlie, also check when you import the file that you select -1, 1, 0 on the 'Import Wave File' dialog. Assuming you saved the wave file from the very beginning of the song.

tried that ! the 1 1 0 setting didn't help and the offset was the same in both files
tried it once again with just one track and same result - played fine with the two bar drum lead in but the bar lines are off. paste correctly whole track, offset the seme etc
does the same in PowerTracks so i'm not sure what's going on
must be something to do with the new file as exporting one track as a wav then reimporting it, it lines up perfectly

Bob, the setting to move the file to the absolute beginning of the track is -1, 1, 0 not 1, 1, 0. This works if you have saved the entire track and want to re-import it.

sorry it was -1.1.1 and it still imported at bar 1 beat 3 and yes it was a whole track rendered to wav with an offset of 2 bars
must be something to do with the new file as it imported perfectly when i brought the same wav file into the original project
if it was a complete bar out i would hunt for a solution but half a bar defeats me
and the backing, the guide vocal and solo all imported on bar 1 beat 3 but it plays as if it imported on beat 1............ there is the usual two beat count in and then straight in - just the wave form is out of sync with the bar lines
