Hello all,
Let me say that I've been a long time user of BIAB as a tool to help me practice and learn new tunes on sax. I've also used the notation feature to print lead sheets showing chords and melodies.
I've recently acquired an Akai EWI 4000s and am having some problems getting it to "sync" with BIAB. When I play notes on the EWI, there's a significant delay before I hear them (and see the notes appear) thru BIAB. This makes it impossible to create a good lead sheet. I've messed around with latency settings and a few other parameters with no results.
I can also add that I used this same technique with my Casio DH100 and it worked fine. For those not familiar with it, the DH100 is a semi-toy saxophone that also transmits a MIDI signal.
I'm currently running BIAB 2010 on a Pentium computer with Windows NT.
I've posted this question on several other forums and all suggested I try here. Thanks in advance for your help.

There are a few EWI + BiaB users around, hang tight, one should be along to help you get things going.

If trying to play a soft synth you need to use ASIO drivers. If your using a hardware synth then I's say it's some settings in the EWI

Hi,
Yes, most likely a latency issue. Make sure you are using ASIO and NOT MME in BIAB! Are you using a softsynth or the sounds from your EWI?. What interface are you using? I would also question your computer setup>
Pentium running windows NT? If that is the case, you may need to consider upgrading your RAM and OS. The more info we have on your system, the better we can assist you.

You probably need ASIO4ALL for low latency. Later, Ray
Asus Q500A i7 Win 10 64 bit 8GB ram 750 HD 15.5" touch screen, BIAB 2017, Casio PX 5s, Xw P1, Center Point Stereo SS V3 and EWI 4000s.

Thanks for all the tips, I'm making some progress. My soundcard is a Sound Blaster X-Fi (C8A0) which is ASIO, so aligning all the BIAB parameters for the card and MIDI out driver seems to have helped the latency issue. The keyboard at the top of the screen seems to be moving as fast as my fingers on the EWI now.
However now I've lost the sound output of the EWI through BIAB! The drums and backing tracks are audible, but now the EWI isn't. Two steps forward, one step back. The EWI sends just a MIDI signal not actual synthesized sounds, so I'm now trying to track this one down. It appears that somehow I've broken the connection between the EWI's MIDI signal and the software synth in the PC. It was Windows GSA before changing to the SBX-Fi ASIO driver. The EWI sends MIDI on channel 1, and I've made sure the SBX is set to channel 1.

Make sure that the thru channel is set to channel 1 also as that's not the default.
