Hi All,

Here's something called Blue Moon You.

A mysterious light
Cut a hole in the night
Fell while you counted sheep
I could tell by the skies
It was the moon in your eyes
You were fast asleep
There was no sound of the rain
I wasn’t going insane
It was the drumming of my heart
It was a brilliant display
Before the sun came our way
And hung in the sky like art

I know I can’t keep the night from fading
Or hold on to the light we knew
But I can dream beside you now
Blue moon you

Then a purposeful sun
Let the night be done
The sky was summer blue
I walked a million miles
Turned a million dials
Just to hear the morning news
There were no hurricanes
On my caffeine brain
It was one more day in our life
It was an early reminder
I needed to find her
Singing by the radio light

I know I can’t keep the night from fading
Or hold on to the light we knew
But I can dream beside you now
Blue moon you

The mysterious light
Makes its way every night
Covers you from the sky
I could tell by the dawn
It was a snowy morn
But the years they roll on by

I know I can’t keep the night from fading
Or hold on to the light we knew
But I can dream beside you now
Blue moon you

Bob,

Loved this for the opening notes to the last.

An excellent write. I considered quoting my favorite lines, but that turned out to be all of them!

A great rhythm to the track. Infectious. And your vocal adds to that feeling. The high harmony is really well done (is that you doing falsetto?)...I did think it was panned a bit to far out - would blend into the main better if it was almost right on top of it (a lot of stuff is being done that way these days). (I am listen with headphones)

Nice use of the rhythm guitar as a lead (others could learn from that...)

This is really good.

Seconded. This is really, really, really well done in every aspect ... lyrically, musically, production-wise. I particularly love the structure of the lyrics and the way you delivered the song, but, again, all of it is spot on for me. Well done!

Floyd,

Thank you - much appreciated!

Yes, that is me singing the high background - I had originally panned it more to the center, but then moved it out a bit. I do like your idea and may try that again.

Thanks again,
Bob

Hi Bob,

Lovely song, nice crisp sound. I love your use of an AAB/CCB rhyme scheme. A tricky one to use sometimes but you nailed it perfectly.

It's good to hear a definite structure and careful use of syllables that make the song flow so sweetly and naturally. Something a lot of aspiring songwriters are either ignorant of or simply choose not to follow.

Evocative and imaginative lyrics too.

Good job.

Martin

More upbeat and a stronger, louder vocal and may be key but your voice is more powerful and expressive in this a another recent song.
Cool stuff - really enjoyed it.

Excellent as per usual!

Like floyd said just one great line after another. One that did stand out for me though is:

"There were no hurricanes
On my caffeine brain"

Nice!

Great lines all through...kinda like floyd said they are
all too good to parse out.

Interesting the way you made that short last line in the
chorus work so well. Creative.

I knew it was good and I knew I was correct when I realized
Janice was singing along by the first chorus smile

Her first comment was very Byrd's like...yeah!

The RT choice is outstanding as are the two drum selections
that work so well. We would never have thought of that.

And the harmony was a nice well done touch.

Thoroughly enjoyed it!

Wow - what a tune smile Loved the vocals on this one. Really professionally arranged, and it shows a solid understanding of songwriting. I wouldn't bat an eyelash if I heard this on the radio.

Thanks for sharing!

Like Janice my first thought was this is a Byrds like song.

Outstanding song, great backing tracks, super vocals and harmony, and the perfect mix.

This is your best to date.

Hi Bob,

This is a very nice swinging song with a good beat in it. And then your vocals; I was surprised to hear you sang this way. And so high!
As some wrote, a winner. I think it is too!
