That’s an important point: Chris, what is important to you, how it looks or how it sounds?

For example, to make it sound like a slur (or, legato), I would right click on the E note in editable notation mode, then lengthen the duration. 120 ticks is a quarter note. So if the F starts on beat three tick 0, I might end the preceding E on beat 2 tick 119.

Others prefer using the piano roll mode to do this kind of editing, as it’s visual and you can see to make the notes almost overlap.

Note: you said ‘rising to F’. What I described will be an E sounding right up to an F. Did you mean you want the pitch to vary between the E and F?
