Interesting ideas, thank you, but not really applicable to my country. We don't really have "pawn shops" as a concept in my culture, for instance.

When I read the subject line and saw 'touch sensitivity' I assumed you meant aftertouch.
In my world velocity sensitivity is different than touch sensitivity.
And polyphonic aftertouch is even another 'touch'.

If you can get a less expensive controller and regain the keyboard action you lost at little cost, I'd do that first.
Tearing it apart, and risking doing more damage than good, seems avoidable at a low cost.

If you need aftertouch, though, prices go up pretty quick.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Maybe I should've used the broader term "keystrokes"... but then someone would just as well have thpught I meant typing! crazy

Now that is a tough set of choices.

I've never dealt with this and I'm no expert, but just to speculate, do you think the fire could have caused these issues? If so, it could be as simple as opening it up to clean out dust/ash. Or replace some electrical components that were compromised or had their insulation melt? Opening any piece of technology up is dangerous, so it is probably best not to act on my speculation, and not take this as advice. Merely speculation, or something to ask about in the repair shop.

Just to close the book on this thread, this is what I ended up buying - A Roland "Arranger" type of keyboard, a model from a few years back which cost far less than what I coughed up originally for my old one but has far more options, sounds & tech (unsurprisingly given the odd 30 years). Many thanks to all who chimed in on the subject cool

Eddie,

I'm curios, what is the Roland model number?

Oh, sorry, I thought the name of that pic was visible. It's an E-A7

Thank you kind sir. I hope you get thirty years of use from it. It is indeed a nice looking arranger.
