Hey guys, it's been a long time since I've used BIAB so I may have know how to combat this issue but...

When I put a plain chord, like "C" in the song it will sometimes play a standard "C" but this it just decides to at a 7th or some other note to it.

I've tried to read the forums and the manual but I can't see how to fix it. I'm using the 2019 Mac version and the style is 3/4 country. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but...

Help!

Thanks so much.

Hopefully someone will show the steps but if I recall there's an option for simple chords so that you can restrict 7ths and other more complex chords.

Hi Earl,

Try this...

1. Right-click on the chordsheet.

2. Select "Song settings".

3. Make sure that the option "Force song to simple arrangement" is selected. It's #1 on the image below.

Noel

Try this:
In Song Settings (Command-N on Mac?) check the item for Force Song to Simple Arrangement:

Edit: Noel was faster. Darn!

Ahhh.... Trev... does this mean that great minds think alike? LOL! Yet again it seems that we are replying at the same time.

As is usually the case, your graphic is a bit superior to mine -- you even managed to capture the rollover note! I'm impressed smile

I hope that self-containment is not driving you batty. It's a pretty good time to get those piano keys moving along.

Regards,
Noel

Yes, the piano has been getting a bit more attention than normal. I'm keeping busy with lots of other engineering projects also, so far so good.
Stay Safe!

Hi, I'm glad you brought up this problem. The given solutions about forcing into simple chords does not change a thing. Are there other solutions?
I think it is really odd that the program changes major chords in a refrain into 7ths and there is nothing you can do about it.

Firstly, welcome.

Please provide some further information.
- What did you have previously?
- What did you do that caused 'nothing could be done about it'?
- What were the results / expected results to establish the above?
- What version of BiaB are you running?
- What Style(s) are you using?
- Do you have frozen tracks in your arrangement?

Much more information is needed before anyone knows how your system is setup.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
I have the MAC version of BIAB 2018 + upgrades 2019 and 2020. In this case it was the electric guitar 1924 in style _TRINITY, but it also occurred in other styles and instruments. String quartets are also very sensitive in this matter.

I have no frozen tracks. I have tried everything. Simplifying and disabling the natural arrangement didn't work. I have tried to change it in the chord builder, but it didn't react. Finally I found out that adding another bass note (slash root), e.g. changing a G into G/B on the first note, solved the problem. This gives a dissonant to the other instruments, but if you import it as a separate track to your daw, it is a solution. If you know another way then I am very interested.
