Is there a way to record YouTube video & audio to a DVD?
It's for a funeral. The corpse does have an expiration date so quick answers would be appreciated.

Bob, when I go onto youtube I get a window asking if I want to download this MP4 ? Possibly you have to be a registered member ?

I am a registered member. It doesn't ask me anything when I select a video. It just plays it. I'm using IE 10.

There is a shareware program named "tubesucker" (sorry, I didn't make up the suggestive name) that captures Youtube content and allows it to be saved. I heard about it from my son, but I don't know where to get it. I assume that if you search online for the name, you'll find a link to its download page.
You might also try download.com and search for keyword YOUTUBE

easy to find, but converting and burning to DVD is the pain. Time consuming.
Then it looks crappy on that big of a screen anyway.

Bob, Here is what I did. 1. I went to the video and downloaded it using the download helper which is a plugin for firefox 2. Next I converted the video from an mp4 to a wmv using this free software - - -> http://www.nchsoftware.com/prism/index.html3. Then I loaded it in my movie making software and burned the DVD. (I use Adobe) It may not be the best quality but it works. I hope that helps, steve

Legality can depend on the purpose for doing it, and permissions granted.
I had a friend that made a video for youtube, crashed his system and lost the video, which he had done in Flash as a school project while he had access to that software. He had no way to do anything with the video anymore.
I retrieved the file and burned to DVD for him, so there are 'legitimate' uses.. even though they may not be encouraged by the site. Had to weigh that one out before I did it.
Plus some people just may not know how to burn proper DVD's. Family videos posted there would be another reason I could see for doing it (with the owners permission of course). Easier to post it once somewhere and send family the link than it is to send it to eveybody, especially with file size restrictions on emails.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

To rharv's point: I think it's like watching/recording the NFL/NBA. etc ... you can record anything for private use ONLY and not get into copyright issues. Once you publish something you "recorded" without expressed written permissions anywhere on the net, you are destined to end up in the court of law.

The youtube that I downloaded was one that was meant to be watched for a class or learning type setting. I was not sure if my signal would be strong enough at the place where I was showing it to my Wednesday night church 4th - 6th grade class so I downloaded it and burned it to a DVD. You are right, it matters what the purpose and permission would be for downloading the material.

Look for a free "FLV" converter. I downloaded one, and it hooks right up to Youtube, records it, and converts it to many other formats that you can then use. Works great. and FREE

FireFox has an addon (download helper I believe) that saves videos from youtube. It saves them as an FLV. You can convert FLV to an avi with http://www.pazera-software.com/products/flv-to-avi-converter/and it's free.
