That was really, really beautiful. I can only imagine what you and your wife performed in your heyday. So glad you're sharing all these little gems with us and so glad someone made some real money with their music along with enjoying it totally. Icing on the cake.

On average, I played 20 - 28 nights a month for many years .. a lot of those years in Europe where live music was much preferred to DJs or prerecorded tracks. It was a blast! Many years ago ... back in the 60s ... I lived in Woodbridge, VA, about 15 miles out of D.C. Had a good time there. And yes, I'm that old!!! i can actually remember when Harry Truman was president. You fulfilled your intention to write a "big" ballad.This smokes all the way to to the emotional chorus and your vocal is a fine indication of where the song could go with Di singing... I do hope we`ll hear that version in the future.

Dear Alan and Di, Oh... my.... goodness....  If songwriting can be compared to baseball, this creation is out of the park; it's a home-run taken slow and easy! Wow!!!! Right now I'm so in awe of what you've accomplished with this wonderful piece of music. It has competence, more competence and even more competence stamped all over it. I love the way that this song begins with a feeling of minor mode and works it's way up the ladder of pitch and key to the chorus. I reckon that for anyone who has experienced loss, it would be impossible to listen to these words without the lyrics becoming personalised. Ultimately, that's what makes a great song. As I see it, when lyrics take on a specific meaning that's unique for each listener and then the melody and the arrangement amplify that personalised meaning, you've accomplished a mighty feat. Alan and Di, you have accomplished a mighty feat. This truly is a wonderful piece of art. Please stay safe and all the best, Noel P.S. Di it's great to see you still having a presence on this forum. You're an amazing and inspiring woman.

How does one respond to such glowing comments? We can only offer you a big and very serious "Thank you so much!" We were trying to create a build to the chorus that was subtle and, perhaps, sliding smoothly up the path without being too noticeable until the "bang" of the chorus. We then wanted to drop the drama and then quietly renew the energy of the song before "going out big".
You have seriously humbled us with your words and wisdom over the past few years; but this review nearly took our collective breaths away.

Alan - I'm really glad you decided to post this. It's a real heartstring puller and does it flawlesssly. It's got that magical quality that just whisks you away into another world. The vocals are just right - you carry words and meaning through perfectly, and while Jennifer Nettles might sing it prettier, I don't believe she could put more heart into it. I really hope that you continue to post your music - some of us in the forum are relatively new.
