Ever and Ever Again Since my work has closed for the lockdown and my last uni assignment has just been cancelled (thankfully I should still get a good grade!) I've been spending quite a bit of time writing, recording and mixing. This one is a bit different from the other songs I've done, taking a bit of inspiration from both indie and rock music but still being a pop song at heart.
All of the tracks were created in BIAB or RealBand. All except the guitar and drum tracks were taken into the DAW as midi files and I've finally had a chance to use the Lethal plugin which I have on rent to own at the minute. Trying to decide whether to keep this or get Serum on rent to own instead, I quite like how this doesn't use too much memory and I've heard Serum is very, very memory intensive.
I also tried out Waves Renessance Reverb rather than True Verb on this as they both come with the bundle I have from them, but I think I prefer the room modelling that TrueVerb does. On the vocals I used the Stereo Tapped Delay exciter and in choruses as well as some of the louder lines in the verses I layered the vocal with a duplicate vocal with doubler and MetaFlanger to add a bit of punch and even more distorted feel to it.
I also added a bit of volume automation to make it a bit louder and also to bring the levels of the music and drums/bass/vocals closer together in the chorus. I wanted the choruses to feel a lot bigger than the rest of the song.
