My guess the program is not recognizing the storage drive location by the drive letter the storage drive is presently assigned. That is a fairly common issue on the Windows operating system. The operating system may assign an external hard drive a different drive letter, especially when the drive is plugged into a different USB port.

Try copying the update to the storage drive and running the update from the storage drive. When it asks you to verify the directory locations then make sure the drive letter and location is correct.
