As Gary said, it all depends on what the OP did.

Cable select involves the (old) IDE cable, and the drive on the end of channel 0 is the boot drive IF both IDE drives (limit two per channel) have the jumper in cable select position. This can be overridden by the drive boot order in the BIOS, and/or by setting the jumper on the drive to master or slave, or by a dual-boot configuration.

SATA drives will boot in the order of the SATA ports on the motherboard, starting with port 0, but that can also be overridden in the BIOS.
