I have done this on several occasions in the past with no issues, but yesterday I tried and the program acted normally, brought up a list of synths that were contained in the ins file, but when I picked the synth I wanted the program gave me a blue "I'm thinking about it" rotating circle, then just quit. No error messages, no nothing. I open it back up and it is like I never did anything and it did not create the PAT file for me either. I tried running as an administrator as that sometimes fixes little glitches that seem to arise, but no help. Anybody else having this issue or could anyone else give it try maybe and see what happens?
My wife asked if I had seen the dog bowl. I told her I didn't even know he could.
The program just exits with no errors or anything. When I go back in it is just as it was and the .pat is not created. I have tried to run as administrator already too, since that sometimes seems to help when things glitch.

obviously I could just take the time to create the file myself, but it is a lot of patches, like hundreds. In the past I just used this function and saved all the time.

It must be something specific about the file. Could I take a look at it? You could attach it to your reply by using the File Manager link (or otherwise point me to a link to download it).
Added file. it is Roland.ins, had to change it to .txt so it would upload as it doesn't like .ins. It is a simple text file that you would edit using notepad or other text editor. Just change it back to .ins for the conversion process.

It is basically the cakewalk ins file for every roland synth. I need it for some SRX expansion cards that I have added to my system. I currently use the existing SonicCell.pat and like I said before I could just manually type all the stuff into that file, but I was going to convert from this file and then copy and paste because I am lazy.
Ha.

I thought that as well, but I have done this before with other .ins files with no issues. Maybe I will try another one to see if it carries over to another.

OK, tried another file and it worked like a champ, so something about this file it doesn't like. I am digging into it now to see what the difference is.

Roland backstage has a patch file builder. I could go in there pick my synth with the SRX Add ons, and generate an .ins file. Did that and then imported/converted it in BIAB with no issues. Thanks so much for all the help! I don't post much but have been using BIAB since it came on floppy disks a long time ago.

The link above sends you to Roland US's support home page. You'll still have trouble finding the correct support page without using the correct search term. I found the link after using the search terms "patch builder" without the quotes.
