maybe it's just my ears but the 'warm up' i get from tape or tube saturation is more akin to old analog recordings than a simple eq change. and the great thing is it's variable used as an aux effect on single tracks. that's how i use the simple saturation knob plugin, remembering Matt Finley's excellent advice to 'turn it up until you hear it then back off' or words to that effect When I want this effect I use the same simple saturation knob and technique.
Whenever I get something stuck in the back of my throat, I dislodge it by drinking a beer.
It's called the Heineken Maneuver.
