How best to do that? I mean, recording myself singing/playing to an MP3/DVD backing track or karaoke music? I guess I would first import the music to BIAB, correct? If so, how best to do that? Or would another DAW be better?
Clueless in L.A.

RealBand is less complicated. With BIAB you'll get all the auto accompaniment and styles - stuff you don't need for simply recording yourself to a backing track.
If your karaoke track is midi - and there are lots on the web, just import into RB and then you'll have all the midi instruments on separate tracks. that's useful because sometimes midis off the web have a melody track to sing along to but you will want to mute it when you have recorded your vocal. You might need to audition several midi tracks from the web of the same song as they vary in quality. You can actually buy good quality midi tracks for karaoke if you want top quality.
If you have a cd of a song by the original artist, record it as audio with RB. There is an fx to 'remove' the main vocal so you can sing over the top of it. Effectiveness varies but it works ok most of the time.
If your cd/dvd backing track is a karaoke audio track (not midi) then just import it or record it as audio in RB. The advantage of that is that if its in the wrong key for your voice you can make it higher or lower with pitch transpose.
If you look for karaoke tracks on the internet you'll find a lot on you tube with lyrics. I think its possible to record two tracks at once - the video sound output and your singing.
Whatever you want to do RealBand is the easiest and simplest way to do it.
