So last time I used BiaB, I was working on an imported MIDI file. I have since closed and reopened the program a dozen times, as well as installed the update. Now, no matter what I do, whether I load or start a new style or song, the MIDI file is playing in the background. It does this even when all instruments and the master are on mute.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
P.S. Launched BiaB as admin, ofc.

What track or tracks are playing it? Could it be audio?
BIAB 2026 Win Audiophile. Software: Fender Studio One 8, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Presonus Quantom HD8 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.

What track or tracks are playing it? Could it be audio? Definitely not audio. Sounds like the default MIDI wavetable playing held chords. Even with everything muted, the master volume levels still light up when the chords play.

What happens if you unload (and then load back) default VST? I guess if you unload it - nothing would be playing, right?
I recently had some issues with playback and rendering in latest BIAB build. I done "restore to factory" and solved most of unusual behavior.

Does F12 work? That is a MIDI panic button that stops all MIDI.
Back in my day the only time we started panic buying was when the bartender shouted "last call"!

Could it be that the music is only in you head? It could be a haunting melody. Turn you computer speakers off and see if that stops it.

Usually the imported MIDI plays as 16 channel from the Melody track. Mute it? Set it to single channel?
Has it to do with this darn plugin maybe?
I always have problems with erasing an RT especially, maybe there's a hidden (performance) track playing your MIDI as generated audio.
What i normally do is make a copy of it to the Soloist track, mute the other, and if i am after the melody mute not wanted channels and delete all that's not needed.
As such i can always revert to the imported stuff on the melody track then when things go wrong.

Still could be audio recording of a midi that would sound the same as the mid source it cam from . make sure the audio track in the bottom of the mixer is empty. Along shot also check to see if you have set output midi chords to track 9 as this does exactly what you say outputs the chord sheet, as held midi root chords on channel 9 ideal for driving vocal harmony units . the are are usually mute though having very little if not zero velocity. This setting holds though for all future songs, until you switch it back off . (you get a yellow pop up warning at start up) I have mine on all the time but you may have a glitch! Mike

I agree with Mike above.
The most likely cause is a MIDI file that's been rendered to audio. If that audio is in the same directory as the BIAB file and has the same name, it will automatically open when the BIAB file is loaded and play when BIAB plays. ("Audio / Kill audio" will remove it.)
Also, click on the PLUGINS tab on the mixer and see if any VSTs or DXIs are loaded on any of the tracks. They might be hosting the midi file.

Hey all,
Thanks for the tips!
Apologies for not marking resolved as I should have a day or so after my OP...was caught up in other things.
PG tech support advised as follows and it worked
"[Go] to Options | Return to factory settings | Return All or Most to factory settings.
If that doesn't resolve the issue, please close Band-in-a-Box, go to your bb folder (usually c:\bb\preferences), and delete the following two files:
Mysetup.dk
intrface.bbw
Next, please right click on your Band-in-a-Box shortcut and select Properties | Compatibility | check "Run program as administrator" and click apply. Then just double click on your Band-in-a-Box icon to launch the program."

Deacon, that is BIAB Troubleshooting 101! Heck those instructions should be displayed prior to opening any new session with BIAB.
