Well being lovers of shuffles we were hooked from the get go... I've oft heard that if you're gonna be a songwriter you gotta have something to say...and you never run out. But it's more than that it's also how you say it. This is a wonderful example of taking a theme and enriching it with outstanding imagery and rhymes. There's enough in this one song to make two or three good ones. Your vocals are not only excellent but they are always well recorded, processed and mixed...and this is another fine example of that. Not as easy to do as one might think. So who is this cool guitar player you keep in your basement and claim credit for? He nailed this puppy. BTW, Janice immediately knew it was you when we played it. And it's been a while  The mix is super being nice and open and "everybody" having their place on the stage. Oh yeah, nice SC photo also. Kudos mr jane! J&B

Very good. Nice idea. Great music. Well written lyrics. I like it. jpt3 - thanks for having a listen!... A nice bluesy number with your usual panache. Enjoyed the lyric, the addition of your guitar, and the impassioned vocal performance. I think I've heard that before... Floyd,
Great vibe right out of the gate—foot-tapping, head-rocking. I think this is among your best vocals, e.g., the way you drag out “fast” in the last line of the first verse. All the stops are right on time. Great lyrics—paints a perfect picture of just who this “good ol’ girl” is. Top to bottom—stellar, stellar, stellar. Outstanding work!

Just took another listen Wanted to say this reminded me of a B&D-type song with Kix on the lead vocal. Works for me! Now, waiting for your next great song ...
Alan Alan - thanks fro stopping by again. I intended this to have a sort of B&D feel, so thanks for that (and I think you are right, this sounds like one that Kix would have done the vocals on...) Your fills n leads REALLY ice this cake.

You know this isn’t the first time that we’ve written songs at the same time that have a similar theme. Funny how that happens. It could be you’re starting to rub off on me. That’s a good thing! Another good thing is your continued success in writing relatable lyrics. Also I would be remiss if I did not mention your tasteful leads and fills. Well done. Another in what is becoming a long line of wonderfully written and performed songs. Always a pleasure to see you post a new one. You are an inspiration to many here, Tom Thanks, Tom. I appreciate all of that... Ah (pronounced awe), there's nothing better than a country boogie shuffle to stir the morning coffee. You are definitely at the top of recording standard, Floyd. For me it's like a limbo bar I'm too old to reach. What a wonderful mix, everything rides on the surface just below the vocals and solos which glide nicely over them. WAY TO GO, FLOYD !
Sounds like the song that was missing from the film "My Cousin Vinny".
I turned up the volume as soon as I heard the first bar and let it rock.
Hey, what's not to like here? Classic backing track, superb break-down in the chorus,
wonderful signature vocals and well, THAT guitar.
Just when I thought I'd heard it all, there's that 24 bar guitar solo at the end.
I never knew you could play like that! This is definitely a guitarist's track.
I glad all my nagging about solos finally paid off.
Did I say I liked this one....

I just finished listening to Dave's latest, now I'm listening to yours. You guys are really above my pay scale! Simply great stuff!! I wouldn't be caught dead with a crease in my Wranglers, but I doubt I could hold a candle to your Good old Girl. Great lyrics, what a picture painted. Thanks for your contributions here, especially the time you take with others. Really appreciated. TM - and thanks to you for taking the time to listen and comment... Well she's a good ol girl by a good ol guy, who just constantly comes up with the most Amazing lyrical, musical songs. with An amazing vocal to fit .
This sounded Brilliant Floyd again different time , era.

Cool rocking groove. Nothing to complain about there. Good mix.
I knew a girl like that. She was the cuz of another drummer but for some reason she took up with the drummer in the band I was in. She was redneck as hell and he wasn't. Never did figure that one out. I remember one night she was trash talking about a Marine who was in the club and he told the drummer to muzzle her. Wrong thing to say. She kicked that Marine’s butt and he was bigger than her. Hold on tight ..... maybe he let her win... Male chauvinist and all that. I don't know what was worse for him... Getting ragged by his buddies for beating up a girl half his size or getting beat up by a girl half his size. I reckon he figured it out. She was something else. I was kind of relieved when he quit and we didn't have to put up with her mouth.

Glenn Glenn - Thanks for having a listen... Beats heck out of being a bad old girl. This was great fun. You really painted the picture and turned the tropes on head. Ripe for video, methinks.
