This issue seems to have cropped up recently, or maybe I've just started doing something wrong. Here's how it happens: - Create a new BIAB song, with any style.
- Record MIDI from an external device, using a VSTi plugin such as Sforzando to the Melody track.
- Select a VSTi plugin for the Melody track.
- Save the song as an MGU.
- Choose Quick Export and export to M4A.
The resulting M4A contains two audio streams of the Melody track slightly out of sync. It appears that one of the audio streams is an audio track that is created during the export process. Prior to the export the audio track was empty. So it looks like BIAB is converting the melody track to the audio track and also exporting melody track to the M4A during export, so there is a doubling. I can get around this by exporting to M4A, then deleting the audio track, then exporting again and throwing away the original M4A file. It's pretty consistent and persists after upgrading to Build 721. I've done a lot of exporting using what I think is the same method since I first got BIAB and I don't recall this happening before. Has anyone else experienced this or do you know if it is a setting that I need to change?

Hi Ed, Out of curiosity, try reloading build #720 and see if the same thing happens. This will overwrite the build 721 update. Recently I had to reload #718 because some music notation features I needed were not present in 721 but present in 718. https://nn.pgmusic.com/pgfiles/support/patches/bb2020_win_update_build720.exeIt would be an interesting comparison. Hi Noel - Thanks - I'll give rolling back a try. I was not aware that you could do that with BIAB without completely reinstalling, but it makes sense. Just for your awareness, I had consistently seen the issue with Build 720 and tried upgrading to Build 721 to see if it resolved, but now I see there is yet another build - #722 - available , so I'll probably try that one first.
I may need some assistance in rolling back to previous versions - I don't see an obvious way to roll back to Build 718 for example. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Ed,
Because I help out with pre-release testing of the BIAB builds, I have multiple versions sitting on my computer. That's why I was able to go back to 718.
Rolling back simply involves manually installing the older build. BIAB warns that it's an older update and asks if you want to go ahead. Selecting OK then allows the older update to be installed.
I don't know if you want to try #718. If you do, let me know and I'll put it into Dropbox for you.
Over the years, there have been a couple of times that I needed to rollback to an earlier build. It's been very rare, though.

HI ED
I always download the new updates as they come up at the top of the forum.
I save these in a folder for the current version say 2020 so I can always roll back.
I start a new folder each time I upgrade or update the package each year.
To save space I reduce the updates saved for previous years to the initial build and last 2 updates.
However they are all available from support at the top of page,back to version 12 and beyond.
Just click on latest updates and scroll down

Update - Able to repro the issue in Build 722. I'm not really interested in rolling back to a previous version for this one issue, so here's my temporary solution. I am not mixing any audio in my tracks - just MIDI and RealTracks.
Workaround:
- Before export to M4A, expand the mixer to show the Audio track and change the volume to zero.
- After export, delete the audio from the modified MGU file and re-save the file.
- If necessary delete the extraneous WAV, or other file that was left behind during export. This has been an intermittent issue that I've had since BIAB 2018 during conversion to compressed formats.

Are you actually recording audio in addition to the MIDI? Do you use the Record MIDI dialog for recording (Ctrl+R) or Record Audio?

Andrew - Yes - I'm using the Record MIDI button, and recording MIDI input from an external MIDI Controller Keyboard. There's no audio being recorded. But the audio track that is created contains the sound from the Melody track converted to audio.
