You can probably do this with MIDI tracks (yellow) if you edit the notes (using either the Notation Window or the Piano Roll Window), then freeze the track before generating to stop it being over-written.
You will not be able to do this with RealTracks (green), as these are pre-recorded audio phrases (some have notation transcriptions available - changing the notation does not change the audio).

Thanks. I am using midi, but I want to know how to vary the length of individual notes in a chord. When I enter the notes they are all assigned the same value, but I want to hold some and not others. It's part of a chord melody arrangement where some notes are held while a melody line proceeds, starting with a certain note in the chord. I hope that makes sense. In the example I gave, the melody starts with the F of the first chord and then proceeds in quarter notes. I want to hold the remaining notes in the chord to play under the melody.
videotrack is right - you can do it with midi. but are the chords all on the same instrument like a piano? or are they on lots of instruments? either way it could be tedious. open the editable notation of the track you want to extend the notes on and you can extend the duration of individual notes but its a bit tedious if you have to do it for a complete song. look up the process in the manual. then freeze the track after you've edited the notes. but bear in mind some instruments like an organ can hold a note but others like a guitar can't as the note dies away after being plucked.
personally i'd do it in RealBand as you can do it once and then cut and paste the edited part overwriting the original so it's the same for all the repeats.
Try this method using the piano roll: (Freeze the modified track first before generating)

Or, in Editable Notation Mode, right-click on an individual note and change its duration. Tedious, yes, for an entire song but quick for a few notes here and there.

Yes, this can be achieved in editable notation mode. However, be careful with what the 'visual' appearance of note lengths is when using the notation display. The G note appears to be displayed as just two beats long.

Also note that in the piano roll view you can select a number of notes and lengthen or shorten all of them at once.
Great point Mario, thanks for mentioning that.

I was watching a "masterclass" on PBS last night for violin. The students were talking about how they want the start, middle and end of a note to sound. Your explanation on this thread came to mind and I understood.
No, I do not play violin - the subject was interesting though.
I wanted to clear up what might be confusing between my posts and VideoTrack's. Editable Notation Mode in BIAB can mean two things. His diagrams are referring to the third choice of mode, which I call the piano roll, using a term familiar in most audio software. I was referring to the second mode, in which the duration is adjusted using only numbers, specifying the number of beats and ticks where 120 ticks (usually) is a quarter note.

Ok I see the File Manager now that I'm using Chrome. I couldn't see it in Edge. ...
Glad you got it resolved. I'm only being facetious, but I'm frankly not that surprised. Edge? Oh, wow. Whatever were they thinking?

Tried the new Edge Chromium? I hated IE/Edge for 15 years ..
The new Chromium version is different .. much better IMO.
Yep, believe it or not MS built the newest Edge on the Chromium (Chrome) base .. and added 4k video to a browser to boot (requires 4k monitor of course). It's actually kinda nice. As a developer, there are actually useful development tools now (much like Chrome)
/we now return you to your regularly scheduled program/
Thanks a lot for that. I've installed it and the first thing I've discovered is that it works with tonebase.co, which wouldn't accept the old version of Edge.
All, this is good. We're getting somewhere with some browsers, finally.
