As a long time user, I got frustrated early into my experience with BB with the very thing you are experiencing. I was classically trained on piano and tried to use the musical road signs, the repeats, al coda, etc, that I had learned to read. It was frustrating until I discovered that I could unfold the song into one start-to-finish linear form. Add what I wanted where I wanted it, knew exactly were I was when I started inside the song, and have never looked back at trying to learn the signs.
