Everybody Needs Time To Heal This is my Covid-19 inspired song, it took me two months to finish from the original idea (which didn't even end up in the song itself). I used the new Melodyne version 5 for my vocals, it has now automatic sibilant detection which makes the editing faster, so I don't have to separate sibilants manually - although it is not perfect and I still have to do some manual work… and that can be heard because I haven't had time to practice. The sax solo is still work in progress, for some reason I couldn't make BIAB generate the second bar the way I wanted even after tens of multiriff trials… so I used Melodyne for that bar to get a better melody, I still have to figure out how to smooth it. RealDrums: BluesRockSlowEv, TambourineEv[single]^03-a,b:Even 16ths Loop: the_challenger_dru RealTracks: Acoustic Bass Bowed #2483 Fretless Bass #2937 Acoustic piano #2808 Acoustic guitar pick #1595, rhythm #3182 Strings #2953 Vocal Mmms #3319 Sax Tenor #1642 Some bird sounds... Vocals by me Mixed in Cakewalk by BandLab Lyrics: Life is not a runway where we speed to keep up with the change and end up flying. Wheels gather filth wings hurt in the headwind rest comes too late for the wrecks on the day of dying. Everybody needs time to heal everybody gains from the slowed-down wheel a break from pushing for milestones and wealth to savor the moment to revive withered health NOW it's time to heal. Earth is not a giant who can hold up the burden of mankind on her shoulders. Tears of abuse greed draining her powers it should be the turn of the human hand to hold her. Everybody needs time to heal... Everybody needs time to heal... Kids flying kites teens fool in their lives adults breaking free from timetable ties. Ears value silence lungs breathe gratitude eyes opened to awe each dawn life is renewed. ------------- Janne

Hi Janne,
I saw a picture of a bird and then the bowed bass started... It took a moment before getting used to the fibrations of the song, but then I enjoyed it. That heavy beat on the guitar was the (nice) spine of the song. And your lyrics are always beautiful, but also surprising. Surprising in the way how you choose your subject and how you write about that. I like that! In a way the sax was also a surprise. I read what you wrote about it, while listening to the song. The sax wasn't playing yet. I thought 'sax, what sax?', then it started it's solo. Also, here I had to get used to that instrument in your song too. At first I thought that this instrument doesn't belong in the song, but soon after that thought vanishes. It fits nicely!
I sometimes have the same as you described about the sax. If it can't be altered by rendering, I sometimes add an extra chord in the bar, to force my instrument to do what I want, while freezing the others. Luckily I don't have to do this much...
Well done, Jane! Hans

Janne, Insightful observations in your lyrics which conjure original images of the changes. I like the impulse the guitar gives the song and that very expressive fretless bass is one of my favourite tracks.... it seems to work well with your progression ( as usual there are some nice Janne-style surprises there!). Your vocals come through the best on the chorus and the sax solo sounds right for the eclectic feel of the song.

Janne,
A great performance.
Interesting choice of style and the discordance works well to deliver the song.
Well produced.

Well done, Jane! Hans Thanks Hans for your kind insightful comment Yes, my songs require several listenings to get used to their oddities I'm glad you like my lyrics and find them surprising. First I thought the song would work with just piano, but soon I realized that a guitar would be nice also. Fortunately I found that rhythm guitar from the vast selection of BIAB instruments, yes, it's the spine of the song as you nicely put it. I really like the sound and melodes of that sax, I didn't even consider other soloists - unfortunately it has not many variations (as you may have noticed that the first and last bar of the solo are similar). Janne

I also like that fretless bass although I wish there were more of them, I would need little bit softer ones. Janne

Nice write, sung with passion, and we particularly liked the above lines.
Great band choice and the sax really fit in. The fretless bass was a good choice...one of my fav bass sounds.
Enjoyed it!

I liked your lyrics and the conceit of humans helping out the planet. The song has unusual changes and groove as do most of your songs. This made the saxophone, IMHO, stick out like a sore thumb. I'm not sure what would go in its place, but I felt like it needed to be something unusual to match the piece. Others have liked the sax, so maybe it's just me. Overall, nice to see so much creativity.

Janne,
Really nice. A terrific sounding song - the chord progression is cool, the melody is excellent. And a solid lyric - well done. Good hook/title.
Excellent BAND. A great blend. The combination of acoustic guitar and tambourine is super. The sax solo sounds good to be. Very tasteful piano and strings addition. And well mixed.
Your vocals sound really good, too.
One of your best, I think. Definitely my favorite.
Well done.
