I'm just guessing that was the problem, the laptop my mate has is one of my old ones money is very tight for him so I passed it down ( we are both pensioners but I am in a slightly better position )

I first purchased BIAB PRO 2018 and immediately upgraded to Ultra Pak because the starter pack despite being called PRO was far too limiting during the 2017 Christmas sale and loaded it onto the three machines that at the time were all in my possession.

I then upgraded to 2019 Ultra during the 2018 Christmas sale and upgraded all three machines with no problems, I purchased 2020 Ultra Pak + and upgraded the two machines I use for music at home.

Early in 2019 I had given the third machine to Max ( how many PCs does one need I still have four ) and it worked fine until Feb 2020 when it stopped at the Splash BIAB screen and would go no further.

All three machines are 64 bit running Windows 10 with the latest ( 2004 build ).

For the life of me I can't see a logical reason for the problem apart from the 2019 serial number lapsing at the end of January when I did the upgrade on the two machines I have at home around 1st of January.

A full clean install on the third machine should have resolved this problem but it hasn't, Max is currently using my portable studio laptop for composing while I sort the other machine out so I am currently seriously limited in what I can do recording wise
