Hello,
I have a new laptop to be used for gigs with BIAB.
Anyone knows about the way to avoid the long installation process to reinstall once again all the files of REAL BAND, etc. This is a tedious and time consuming procedure.

THe big questions is:
Is there a way to install simply BIAB application (for example the current "Band-in-a-Box and RealBand 2020 Pro (Windows)" and then...
connect the HD with all the files (real band, etc files; many GIGAS) and tell the new BIAB installation in the new PC where are the files?
This way the new BIAB recently installed can find the files?

Anyboby know how can I do this or it is imposible and all the UltraPAK, files, RealDrums, Ral track must be installed ONCE AGAIN?

THanks in advance.

Montxo

All I can say is yes, it is likely easier than you think. Once the program is installed on the new computer just go into the configurations setting and set the path for real drums and real tracks to the external drive. That is essentially it. By the time anyone gives you detailed instructions you can have it done.

Pay attention to the options during the install.
At a given point you are offered the option for a Minimal install.

It will show you that you can install only the program(s) to C: and let you 'install' everything else wherever you want. Including the existing USB hard drive you are installing from, in which case they won't even need to install as they already exist.

One caveat with this choice is that if you move that drive to a different USB jack or a Windows update changes things (etc), you may have to re-establish the location of the Realtracks/RealDrums in the program's Options-Prefs area so it knows where to find them, as MusicStudent referenced.

My laptop is set up like this ..

Hi Dan, thanks for the reply. I can see that just telling the program where the REAL DRUMS and TRACK resides the files and styles are not found. Using the Rebuild option does not fix the problem. many files appears lost.

No clear instructions or tutorial available in PG site.

Thanks anyway.

Montxo

All I can say is that is not the way it is supposed to be. My experience may go back a bit, to the time this worked well. Sorry and good luck.

Hello,
thanks for the help.
I cannot find an option Minimal Install. The only related option is to change the folder for REAL DRUMS ans TRACKS.

I think that I will need to reinstall all the files.

THanks a lot.

If the program is already installed see below for Realband. These options work for me, just navigate to your external drive and make sure it is connected before launching Biab/RB .. and make sure you select the full path to the desired folders. As you can see I used the E: drive instead of C: ..

For BIAB you could (re-)address them here manually later, a similar page is for your Drums folder.
