More on the chicken dance. From wikipedia it says it written in 1950. I would have thought it was older.

Beware of earworm! But if you have never heard it, here is a link.

I never listen to the radio. First of all, I don't want to listen to what THEY want me to hear. Second, I refuse to listen to commercials and that incessant DJ chatter. Third, I have a thumb drive with 2000 songs on it, and I can add and remove them as I choose. Fourth, the music I enjoy isn't on any radio station. Who here has even heard of Dr. Dog, Dawes, Vampire Weekend, Neon Trees and The War On Drugs? None of them were ever mainstream enough to make it to top 40 radio, so I'll never hear them on the radio. It's mainly the commercials though. I wonder how many people get that commercials on the radio, which we have all come to accept, are nothing more than the audio counterpart of pop-up ads on your computer?

As far as silly stuff like The Chicken Dance (Put the Hokey Pokey in there too), never gonna happen. I understand why they are requested though. Weddings are typically the only time in a year that the people who think the Chicken Dance and the Hokey Pokey is dancing. They just don't know good music from bad.

Uhhhh, OK LMAO

Yep... that's a bad one. I have actually heard that but never knew the name....and I can honestly say I have never played it. I listened to 10 seconds and I will probably be replaying that in my head the rest of this evening...... I will get you back for that one day..... some how...... some way......when you are least expecting it.

And in 2020 connotation, isn't toot slang for cocaine? Is that what it meant when that was written?

Definitely some annoying tunes brought up here. I personally have a deep-rooted loathing for the song 'Cotton Eyed Joe.' Something about it makes me want to stick my head in a blender. 'Barbie Girl' by Aqua really irks me for some reason too.

Around mid-November I can't wait to start playing Christmas Music, by the 2nd week in December I am ready to climb a tower with a rifle if someone request Deck The Halls again. So I somewhat understand. LOL

So now I disagree on Jimmy Buffett been a big fan for years, but to each their own. For me it’s anything ABBA. Especially.... (disclaimer: stop reading now because if you keep on the next mentioned song will play in your head as you try to sleep)

Eddie, I’m a big fan of The War on Drugs. Even though several of the songs are pretty much just two chords, there’s something about them that just soothes the soul.

There are only two types of songs, songs I like and songs I do not like. Sometimes a song can change groups. Whether the song has lyrics or not has nothing to do with it. YMMV

Waterloo!
I guess I’m lucky in 70 years of playing and performing I have never played or had even a request to play Waterloo. Must a regional thing, I’m west coast.

Well said Mario!!!

I feel the same way, especially about the change groups part.

And when I'm on the gig, I really don't care if I like it or not, I just play them (see previous post about the wasp nest and the telephone pole).

Scott, the lead dude (Adam) drives me crazy because he has that neurotic stage dancing thing playing with his pedals, but Under The Pressure in particular is a really well done song. Between them and Dr. Dog I get my indie fix. With some Dawes in there and some Vampire Weekend. A handful of others too.

Same here, I play what the crowd wants. Just sometimes when I hear certain tunes at live shows (other than mine) or on the radio I just hit the channel changer instantly.

Another comes to mind . . . I still love many versions of Elvis' Can't Help Falling In Love With You, but I can't get to the channel changer quick enough when some youngster with a Uke starts with a long drawn out WIIIIIIIIIIISE Men Say. Lol

Later,

Band-in-a-Box 2026 Video: AI Stems & Notes - split polyphonic audio into instruments and transcribe

This video demonstrates how to use the new AI-Notes feature together with the AI-Stems splitter, allowing you to select an audio file and have it separated into individual stems while transcribing each one to its own MIDI track. AI-Notes converts polyphonic audio—either full mixes or individual instruments—into MIDI that you can view in notation or play back instantly.
