This may seem like a strange question, but are you using the same USB cable to connect the Behringer to both computers?
On my newer Focusrite I learned the cable is part of the equation; not all are equal.

After that I give up .. without a remote session.
Sounds like something weird/obscure is the issue. I'd likely try to get a PGMusic tech to remote in, but that's just me being me. They probably won't be able to actually hear it, but may be able to help narrow down the issue looking at the settings.
Even if your W10 internal card is terrible, the Behringer should bypass this altogether. So if the Behringer is indeed the issue, it may be money/time better spent on a replacement interface than a new computer.
But I'd have someone remote in or stop by and make sure the Behringer is set up/connected correctly first.

You should be able to get a nice clean sound from it. Make sure your headphones/speakers are connected to the Behringer unit when trying it. If you select the Behringer dtiver but still have headphones/speakers connected directly to the computer, you're not hearing the actual Behringer.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

one final last despairing effort. i've reread the thread again and it seems you've not ever tried MME drivers. I know you can't record with them but just to see if BIAB playback works ok please select an all RealTracks style, choose MME and listen with phones through the headphone output on the laptop. disconnect the behringer completely. does BIAB playback sound ok? please report back as that will be the very last test i can think of.

Had a recent spat of very bad issues with BIAB. I discovered that someone or something had set WAS as the audio output. I put it back to MME and all is humming fine now. Just sayin...

IIRC I have had BiaB upgrades reset the driver to WAS. I also have problems with WAS so I am always on MME. Note I do not record in BiaB.

Life is short so make sure you spend as much time as possible on the Internet arguing with strangers.

The WAS driver choice won’t even give me sound so it’s easy to diagnose when it gets flipped. I really wish WAS was not the new default, but perhaps it’s a good first choice for the most users; I wouldn’t know.

If you’re not recording within BIAB, I can’t think of a good reason not to use MME. I can think of reasons to use ASIO but that also brings with it the need for adjustments and avoidance of possible conflicts with other software.

Try MME first, as suggested.

Will try MME asap and report back. Stay tuned.

Further update:

Dell Win 10 Laptup:
Dell is out of ideas except for resetting the OS back to factory default (get rid of all the enhancements they have made me make) - and get rid of all my data and programs and start again.

They are also offering a refund. Should I take it? What buy instead??

Behringer UMC202HD:
They (Behringer direct support) have seen my videos but they seem pretty blaze about it.
No solution so far to their ASIO driver crackle and also the other noise from the unit.

The retail supplier is refusing to reply to any communication whatsoever, the unit has 3 year warranty but they are just not responding since 4 July already. I think they may know something or again, do not care.

Again what buy instead??

get a new laptop at least you will be starting with a clean sheet. other threads suggest you have not liked it from the start. even if MME works get a new laptop.

with the new laptop go straight for the WAS drivers that come with BIAB. i know some people have problems but theyv'e always worked fine for me. you should be up and running and able to play and record with BIAB and RB immediately using the onboard sound and headphone output (again i know there has been criticism of using headphone outputs but i've done it playing live)

once everything is running fine, the behringer is a separate issue and i'm still not convinced that its the unit. install the behringer ASIO driver on the new laptop and go from there.

lots of us use the behringer or a behringer model - mine is bulletproof but i had crackles and pops from a presounus unit that i returned! if the behringer doesn't work try presonus - the exact opposite of my experience.

Update:

Quoting form Behringer support:

"Yes, we confirmed that the noise on boot up is normal, I reported to the development team and it was confirmed by them too but decided it wouldn't be acted on. This is due to following best practice avoids the noise during boot up and we created the following advice in our in our FAQ section as a result.

https://musictribecommunity.powerappsportals.com/en-us/knowledgebase/article/KA-02390

"

[As can be heardin my video, the noise is not just at bootup but right up until music starts]

What the ??? FAR OUT!!

Their 'best practices' explanation is simply saying not to turn on speakers connected to the unit before turning on the unit.
Makes sense, and true it is best practices.

For one it avoids the power on surge to the speakers, which in/of itself is worth following.

Have you tried this?

If it solves the problem, it may be that a simple adjustment in workflow/discipline will solve it.
Not sure why their unit has such issues but if a simple better workflow actually solves it, well..

FWIW I hate when people fire stuff up in the wrong order and I hear that 'pop' (especially in headphones).
/just sayin

Right!
Following that "best practices", I would have to start BIAB playing the song and then quickly run to turn on the amplifier. Or if using a microphone, turn on the amp after starting singing to avoid the noise.

Well isn't that nice of them to alert their customers.

All I can say is my Motu Audio Express which is a comparable unit never is turned off. But my DAW speakers are always off and only turned on when recording or mixing and everything is working and ready to go. So that observation is rare here.

Same for me and the Focusrite 18i20. I don't think I've turned it off in months.

i think we are referring to two different noises. the unit makes a noise on boot up. that's quite normal. so turn your speakers off before booting it up. then turn them back on. then start BIAB and proceed as normal. so what rharv was suggesting was just that - not the impossible process you describe.

i don't think behringer mean you get a continuous noise which is what you are reporting.

lots of units make a noise on start up but it stops. i think that is the noise behringer are talking about not the continuous noise you report. cross purposes again but we know that the behringer works with the behringer ASIO driver (yes?) on the old laptop so we are back to the problem probably being on the new laptop.

They heard and saw my video and their response and the creation of that best practices was after they saw that video.

You've gotten completely off track again. What's the answer to that question?

And, if it's still bad then follow Dell's advice and restore Win 10 to stock and try it again. If that also fails, then get a new laptop.

A final note. People should carefully research various interfaces before buying one and that includes asking about them on musician forums like this one, Behringer is never listed up there with the big names. You need to buy one of the well known interfaces like Steinberg which I have because they invented the whole VST thing in the first place so it stands to reason they know what they're doing. In addition to Steinberg we usually recommend Fosusrite, MOTU, PreSonus. All big names in the studio/DAW world.

Computers are flaky enough by themselves without adding a flaky interface to the mix. And I get it that some here report problems with WAS. For me I don't understand that. I keep my system completely stock, the way Win 10 originally installed. No tweaks at all and WAS works perfectly for me. But, I also don't use laptops because I know they can have issues that do require tweaks mostly to do with automatic power management. Laptops use mobile chips that can easily overheat. You can't equate a desktop CPU to a laptop CPU that can at first glance seems like the same chip. Hey, they're both i5's they're the same! No, they're not.

That is because everyone insists that I stick to one single thread. The Behringer noise belongs in a different thread all together. Which is what I would have preferred.

MME driver update coming as soon as I can get to it tonight or on the weekend. Not forgotten, not ignored, just not yet there.

UPDATE on MME driver:

I have changed the BIAB audio driver to MME now.

And... Drum Roll...
No, it is the same as WAS.

Here is a video comparing MME to WAS via headphone out socket.
https://youtu.be/VCUHqLpyYIA

And here is the same but via Behringer UMC202HD.

https://youtu.be/Q0RYL4_ujoY

The Asio4All still will not connect.

The noise patterns seem very similar between audio out and Behringer.

So what is generating this? BIAB or the drivers?

Changing the BIAB volume on the panel mixer controls the noise volume too.

All very unsatisfactory.

Regards
Bernt

OK, this is the first video where I could clearly hear the problem. That sounds like RFI or electromagnetic interference, particularly if it is independent of BIAB or drivers.

Do you have any of the following near your computer?
- Internet modem
- wireless router
- florescent lights
- wireless phone
- microwave oven

Are any of the following running on the same power circuit?
- air conditioner
- microwave oven
- refrigerator
- furnace
- light dimmer switch
- Internet modem
- wireless router
- florescent lights
- wireless phone

- florescent lights

However, let's not leave out the possibility an audio input is turned up with nothing connected.

Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!
