How many of you know who he is? Most people don't know how often they have listened to him unless they read liner notes. He's been in Nashville since 1992 and been a first call session guitar guy for 25 years. Player of the year often as well. I mention that because I put a post in the wish list asking about having him sampled for real tracks. AND he knows Paul Franklin really well so maybe Paul can fill him in on the dollars sense.

When Covid hit he started a youtube channel that was first called Covid lessons, but has been renamed Home Skoolin'. He just posted #56 today. These are WAY beyond "put your fingers here" kind of lessons. It's about the mental side of being a session guy and often more about feeling the music than playing it. Some very good stuff in there. His channel is called "501chorusecho".

He is also married to Sarah Buxton and she pops in from time to time. A few times they have done duets that are just breathtaking and time stopping. Look for one called Ripples where he starts with "I miss chords" and watch what he plays. He is an unreal, ungodly level player. I really recommend it.

Here's the link.

My personal connection is that he grew up in the same small suburb of Cleveland that I did, but I did it 17 years before him and we did not know each other, not that it matters. If you Wiki him you see his resume is literally who's who in Nashville.

Really tasteful! One of those guys that seamlessly goes from rhythm to riffs to leads. Really nice. Subscribed

You know he had no social media presence until March, and he now has 37.5k subscribers.

If he didn't understand the power of having a social presence prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, he likely does now!

I think he just didn't care, Jim. He is too busy NOW, and face it, a large social media following doesn't mean much to a behind the scenes guy like him. Even with Covid he was getting calls. He is so low tech he does his videos on his cell phone. It is staggering how many songs you have heard with him playing on and didn't know it. I was surprised and I have watched him for a long time! His Wiki page is an amazing roster of stars. His video with Gordon Mote from a month ago is fantastic. Gordon has been blind since birth and plays the piano with such expression and emotion, because, as he says in an older interview, "this is how I see."

And allow me to add fuel to the side that poo-poos the value of reading and theory. (Which you all know I DO believe in.) He can't read a note of music. Yet to listen to him talk, he starts into flatted 5ths and minor 9ths and chord progressions... so he KNOWS theory well. He just doesn't know he knows.

I read his Wiki and started going and listening to songs he is credited on. There were so many to listen to it took a large part of a day.

Wow - I mean, many session musicians definitely fly under the radar, but I looked further into his discography and wow, you were right - he's all over the place. Definitely got his channel bookmarked, I look forward to watching some of these when I have more time.

Thanks for sharing smile

Start with Covid Lessons #1, then move on to when he changed it to Home Skoolin'.

Now get him onboard as a Real Tracks contributing artist. I haven't heard anybody play with the amount of taste he exudes since Chet Atkins. His style would be the perfect to the Brent Mason clips we have.

Wow I had just watched him several days ago on the Tim Pierce Guitar youtube channel. Here is the link to that interview and playing.

Loved his videos - since we are on the topic of great guitar channels on Youtube - who are the other "must see" guitar player's guitar players ?

Tim Pierce was mentioned, Guthrie Trapp is good as well. A lot of them are just "look at me" self promoting channels. I don't watch those. The Bukovac channel has a lot to do with thinking and concepts. Like the one with his wife where they did Ripples. That was deep where he said "I miss chords."
