Hi all, I decided to hire another singer to rerecord Say Goodbye as I didn't feel I could do the song justice. I worked a fair bit on the production of this one and, while I wasn't fully finished, I ended up accidentally breaking my laptop which I was doing all of my mixing on. Thankfully I still had a the most recently mastered version of the song which I'd thankfully uploaded so I could listen to it when travelling places to try and see what could improve. I think it's OK but I'm still not 100% on the levels of the music and vocals. But I decided to release what I had and thought I'd share it on here to see what people think of the progress of the song. I've lost all of my previous songs. I am going to release the final version I had of Hold On and will share it on here too. I'm now very thankful for the external hard drive version of BIAB I have which has meant I only need to download the updates rather than everything from scratch on my new laptop. Hope you all like this version of the song and I'm looking forward to sharing new songs with you all now my new laptop is up and running!! Streaming links YouTube link

Real nice writing, and it had a nice flow to it.
I think the mix was a little too busy--I'd consider holding back some of the backing elements to clear it out a bit.
Without seeing the lyric, I couldn't completely latch onto the what was being sung--maybe a bit less effect on the vocal?

I went with the Youtube version. I don't think I heard the original but this is a nice song. Lovely vocals. Nice instrumentation. This reminds me of something from the "To Sir with Love" era. Neat.

Sorry to hear about file issues.  The first streaming link required me to sign up; the other one I tried only let me hear a 30 second clip. The mix has a lot of competing high frequencies which made it hard to hear the vocals. One some of the verses, the vocals seemed to get quieter as the verse went along. Anyway, I enjoyed listening despite those issues. Looking forward to your new songs!

Hello ...
I know, first hand, the frustration and despair one feels when losing so many files. My wife and I lost a file with all our backing tracks for about 30 - 40 songs when our laptop fried a few years back. We did have the final stereo mixes but without the original stems there's no way to remix ... just have to start from scratch. Hope all turns out as well as possible.
I like the song a lot! Jacy has a super voice for this one ... probably just about anything. It's a terrific lyric. I agree with a previous comment about some really higher EQ ... sounds like open hats ... that tends to muddle things just a bit. It sometimes competes with the vocal.
But all that said, it was a really nice listen and very enjoyable. As I said, I really like the song.

Thanks for listening and the feedback. I am hoping I can find a way to get files off my laptop and hopefully to fix some of those issues. It's my favourite song I've wrote so far and really would like the mix to be as perfect as possible with my minimal skills haha. Thanks for the positive and constructive feedback  .

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!
Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing.
