I have about five work-in-progress songs in development but I wanted to start and finish a new one in one day just to break the logjam, and this is what I came up with. I've always liked the line in the movie The Silence of the Lambs when the Senator says about Lecter, "take this animal back to Baltimore". So I used that line and wrote a song around it about some guys from my town who struck out on their own to Nashville and Austin many years ago. One in particular is roughing it out there still. He sleeps in a van and does small gigs around the country. My hat is off to him but I know it must be a hard life.

I used:

PopH085 Slow Rock Ballad
Real drums - Nashville Even 8
Real tracks - 518:Bass
Real tracks - 365: Guitar, acoustic
Real tracks - 362: Guitar, acoustic strumming
Real tracks - 542: Guitar electric

Me - Yamaha PSRE403, routed into Mixcraft 5 via Cl1 interface.
Me - vocal, routed from SP1 mic into Mixcraft 5 via Cl1 interface.

I'm sorry I don't use Soundcloud like most of you do. I have always used Soundclick and Bandcamp. I was going to set up a Soundcloud account but it looks like it cost money and I really don't listen to any music online other than the songs here and from Youtube, so it's probably too late in the game to change over to Soundcloud now.

Anyway, if you don't mine listening to my song on Bandcamp (you have to push the button to play it), here is:

Back to Baltimore

Thanks for any listens and comments.

Back to Baltimore

When your road has run out
And rivers have run dry
And no one will buy your song
No matter how you try

When you feel the failures
Or cut down to the bone
Come on back to Baltimore
It's always your home

I know you are a dreamer
And music guides your soul
But life is hard in Nashville
And soon it takes its toll

But you are not a stranger
You'll never be unknown
Come on back to Baltimore
It's always your home

You are truly missed here
We never turned away
We never looked down on you
Or had bad things to say

You are never stranded
Or lost and all alone
Come on back to Baltimore
It's always your home

You are not abandoned
Our love for you has grown
Come on back to Baltimore
It's always your home
It's always your home
