If you are writing a melody using the notation editor, then the melody will be MIDI.With such a melody, it's possible to bring harmony in and out as you wish.
To do this...
1. right click on the bar you want the harmony to enter
2. select "Bar Settings" (F5 is the shortcut key)
3. down the bottom of the Bar Settings window, you'll see the options for harmony. (Note: harmony THRU is if you have an external midi instrument attached to BIAB and the melody is playing through that instrument.)
You will need to repeat the above process at the bar where you want the harmony to end.
