Hi I am new to this forum and to BIAB and I thought I would post an instrumental piece I wrote and mixed in RealBand. I hope you enjoy it.

There was no Style used as I just put the chords and midi tune into RealBand and then generated RealTracks as needed for specific sections.

Here are the RealTrack ingredients:
Basses 2485 and 2915
Drums Nashville Even8 and Country Even8
Pianos 2870 and 1007
Guitars 3236, 3440 and 3441
Harp 2820 and midi Koto.
Cello 3267 and Violin 2338
Synths 2266 and 1543
Vibes 1215 and midi.
Organ 689

Midi tune: ElectroSixtiesFlutes from the provided HiQ plugin.

I decided to end on a minor chord. Of course you can't fly!

I would welcome any mixing or other tips as I am still finding my way around the software.

I think this is really good.

I didn't like that distorted guitar part, I think you could drop that. I also thought it was too long. It sounded a little repetitious. If you want it this long I would bring a full orchestra with percussion and choir. Note this is just my opinion so take it for what its worth.

BUT I thought most of this was excellent. Super flute and call and response sections. The mix was excellent. Nice use of RTs and MIDI.

It sounds like you were classically trained. Were you?

OK, a random thought;

Hello Capt ...

Very pretty and so nice in the ears! I do agree with Mario about the length and the distortion guitar track. But it was a delightful listen! One of my favorite tracks was the Koto. Although relatively brief, it was so nice! I spent some time in Japan back in the middle 60s and fell in love with the sound of the Koto. Although "plucky", it has a peaceful and alluring timbre.

Very nicely done! And welcome to the forum! Wishing you the best. And be safe ...

Alan

Thanks for your helpful comments. Yes I did classical music once, but not for a while. Am hoping to use all the different genres in BIAB.

Great! Nine minutes is a long time to hold my interest, but you did it. Good work.

The Koto and flute are very good and the melody has a nice pastoral quality.
The strings came in just as my attention was beginning to wander.
I agree with others that the guitar seems out of place.

I'm OKAY with the guitar part...I'd have mixed it a little lower though so that it could be heard to be the balance of whatever is playing on the other side (can't be sure because the flute & guitar dominate).
After the guitar drops out the left side seems a little empty.
I've found that BIAB realTrack cello really cuts through a mix and thus can carry a melody to the listener if it's given a little guitar overdrive through a VST.

Cheers
