Donny, I'm speechless. You will be missed dearly, you have contributed much to this forum and made me smile more times than I can count.

I wish it wasn't so, but since it is, I hope your passage is peaceful.

Your friend,

Don,

I know this is premature, but I would rather post this now in hopes that you will get to hear it than to post it after you've left us.

Don,

For what its worth, I got a call from my sister over 3 years ago to hurry home because my mom was going into hospice. Coincidently, today is her 89th birthday and she is still with us. I’ve always enjoyed your music buddy.

Donny, I don't know what to say. I've read and re-read this thread over and over again and find profound sadness over taking me.

Your contributions to the Forum and your help to many have been a blessing and an inspiration. And maybe that's the point, in spite of it all, you have always been there for our Forum family.

Although we've never met, I consider it a privilege in my life to have known you.

Don, I glad to be one of your friends and a spiritual brother. You and your dear family will always be in my prayers. It is apparent from the comments here that people love and appreciate you for your contributions. Three scriptures came to mind as I read These post from you friends the first is Proverbs 22:1 “A good name is to be chosen rather than great wealth; To be respected is better than silver and gold.” You my friend have that kind of name, because of you care, concern, and love of others.

The second and most important is Ecclesiastes 7:1 “A good name is better than good oil, and the day of death is better than the day of birth.” This refers to ones name or reputation, not just with mankind but even God will that good name will be remembered, and when the time comes your resting in the sleep of death will short. Because, As Luke 20:38 states, “ He is a God, not of the dead, but of the living, for they are all living to him.”

However in spite of these thoughts, I am not writing off yet, you crazy old’ Irishman, hope you beat their timetable and hang around. We enjoy your company.

Your friend Rob

Don,

I don't think I can say it any better than Noel has:

"I've known you for a long time on these forums. Without exception, you are the most inspirational person that I have ever encountered. Your ability to overcome immense hurdles, and the way you fearlessly face life smiling have been powerful influences on how I see the world.

More than anyone I know, you've shown me how to look at life as a wonderful gift and how to take the IMPOSSIBLE, and turn it on its head to become I'M POSSIBLE. "

I agree whole-heartedly. You are a special person. We are all lucky to have been touched by your kind spirit. I am sure you will keep the music flowing and keep a song in your heart for eternity.

Dear Don,

Thank you for all the encouragement and kind words over the years. May you rest easy.

"Seen a shooting star tonight
And I thought of you
You were trying to break into another world
A world I never knew
I always kind of wondered
If you ever made it through
Seen a shooting star tonight
And I thought of you"

Don, I hate to hear that. All I can say is that you seemed to me to be the calm in the midst of the storms that come through here....and you always had good things to say and were always about the music.

Don, this is the first sign in I've had in a while. I just felt the need to today. Now I know why. To thank you for your pleasant attitude and life of possibility. You have shared so much with us. I remember laughing many times at your posts in joke thread that existed years ago. Your providing music, laughs and your endearing spirit have me feel that in spite of any challenge, you lived a great life!

Thank you for sharing YOU with us.

Don,
As others have said, know you will be truly missed.
A a point of optimism; my mother-in-law was put in hospice 4 years ago and still survives even in the current times.
There's a joke in there somewhere, and I'm sure you will find it if anybody can.
Thanks for all the smiles you've caused for all of us.

Bob,

In her effort to cheer my, my aide, Francis told me of several patients who have been in this nursing home for over ten years but they are much younger than me.

Dearest Rob and Patsy, Just when I thought that I had my waterworks under control with a plethora of Depends and nappies and Kleenex tissues, Callie emailed to say that I needed to read today's comments and I'm glad I did.

I have grown to love my PG Family over the nearly 20 years since first posting. This is the most knowledgeable bunch of wonderful writers and musicians that one could ever hope to have met, all of whom hung their egos at the entry door. Several could easily swap theory with anyone at 1000 paces.

Rob, we entertain the same hope so I truly expect to see both you and your lovely wife Patsy in the not to distant future on a cleansed paradise Earth.

I had the privilege of seeing you both in a recent Zoom meeting at Kelly's home. I hope to see more such meetings, time and circumstance permitting. I noticed that both of you really enjoyed the fine fellowship as did everyone enjoy cyber-meeting both of you from the East Coast.

This thread has been a prayer answered - much better than straining to read them on my headstone. ( Chortle )

Thanks so much, dear friends.

I've always wondered why we can't have our own funeral and read our obituary while we are still living. It would be fun.

Bob,

My sentiments exactly. It is impossible to read such kudos on one's own headstone.

I have always advocated looking for the good/best qualities in others. Consequently, I've learned that it is impossible to give love away ...someone keeps filing my tank ten-fold.

After someone passes, it's often said - "may his memory be a blessing". You have always been a blessing around here with your talent, compassion, friendship and zest for living. The thought of you leaving us has me missing that dancing chicken already and you're not even gone. Wouldn't surprise me if you still have some encores left before the show's over my friend. God bless you and make His face to shine upon you and bring you peace. Love always, Josie
