What would be real fun would be to attend our own funeral and hear what people are saying about us!!

Don,
You are one of the first people who helped me to navigate BIAB, which I almost dropped because of initial frustrations. Now, it is my go-to musical workshop and I met a lot of wonderful and talented people here. Thank you for being with us. Make each day count!

Wow Donny, it's hard to get such devastating news. You were one of the first to welcome me to the BIAB forums years ago and I always enjoyed your wit, helpfulness, advice and in particular, that even without meeting you personally, your character has always shined through. I'll be praying for you and your family.

When the time comes, perhaps we can get PG to allow a running jokes thread in Don's memory. Even if it is finite, like maybe for a year, it would be a great way to pay homage to him.

Don - it has been an honor to call you a friend here. You are one of the cheerleaders that makes this forum a rare treat in the internet world. My hat is off to you for your constant encouragement here, and your fight for music amongst the often forgotten.

I wish you a comfortable exit.

I will add my vote to Eddie's idea of allowing the joke thread to be allowed again in your honor, as a fitting encore performance.

Eddie,

That would be a wonderful and appreciated tribute but I think Peter's rationale in asking me to take it down was because some comedians have begun copyrighting their jokes thus we may have unknowingly been flirting with infringements. I certainly didn't want that as wonderful as Peter has been to me.

Don, you are one of the OGs. Even if they do it for a month and then completely deleted the thread before lawsuits hit, they should do it. It would be a fitting tribute to someone who is held in extremely high regard here.

It is in my living will that my executor is to hold a memorial for me at a specific club, with a list of invitees (however many of them would attend considering the way I burn bridges), and a program including 5 songs (4 of my own, the 5th a version of Sarah McLachlin's Angel sung by a local girl singer here who was a longtime friend before we parted ways), time for anybody to tell stories they might remember me by, and the instruction that one specific group of women be seated at the same table. (I'll let you use your imagination as to why.) My sendoff will be HAPPY!!! Of course I won't know if it even happens, but I truly believe that the end of the road should be happy, because you get to keep the memories of those who have departed. Everybody who has participated in this thread has fond memories of you, and those memories will continue. And though this is likely rather premature, allow me to add my Vaya Con Dios to the pile. A plane may crash on any of our houses later today and take us! You truly never know. I learned that in a car crash 7 years ago that almost got me. Thus was born my song Second Chance.

I hope those close to you will see to it that your celebration of life will be upbeat, as you have always been an upbeat guy. I am certain they will!!

What I PMed you was more personal and I won't share it here.

Vaya Con Dios!

There´s so much
this forum could thank
you for me included and
I still recall how
you donated a tune for me
when as a youngster I took
my first trembling steps
here on this forum!
I´m out of words but I want
you to know that I´ll always
remember you as long as I live !

See you on the other side later !

Hi Don,
I talked to you a few times and really valued your seeming niceness to help others. I'm sure you have stars in your crown waiting.

There is No Death

All beginnings had previous endings
Because life is eternal we just turn the page
As sad as it seems to leave what’s known
The next stage could be awesome
Physics say matter can’t be destroyed
From the physical we only change form
So I wish you a better happier place
Where there’s no suffering or death

TURN! TURN! TURN!
The Byrds
To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time to every purpose, under heaven
A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep

To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time to every purpose, under heaven
A time to build up, a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together

To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time to every purpose, under heaven
A time of love, a time of hate
A time of war, a time of peace
A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing

To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time to every purpose, under heaven
A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time for love, a time for hate
A time for peace, I swear it's not too late

Eddie,

When I first began entertaining your idea I asked Peter if I could have the entire collection which was then over 120 pages long. He said it had been completely deleted. Sooo, there is little hope of recovery. I had planned to protect Peter and compile a FREE jokebook under my own name.

Dear friends,

I need a good FREE Text-to-Speech program ( Emphasis on FREE ) so I can play this entire thread each and every morning that remains to me.

Such beautiful thoughts and wonderful friends deserve to be saved and shared with others.

Tell someone that you love them every day!

Mike,

I have MS Narrator and find it to be overly complex.

I had a perfect app before I lost my SSD and now I can't even remember the d/l site but the icon was a green face.

I merely want to drop a text file into it it and have it read aloud.

Hey Don,

I haven't been following the forum lately, but I stopped by tonight and was surprised to find this thread. I want you to know that at various times since knowing you, you have inspired me, encouraged me, made me laugh, made me think, and soon you will make me cry. I have such respect for you, I don't even know how to start saying why. It takes a certain kind of person to remain as selfless and positive and helpful as you have been, even in the midst of health issues that would make the average man surrender, or turn mean.

Every summer since knowing you, I have resolved to come visit you, and every summer some insignificant reason derailed the completion of a trip that would certainly have been more significant than whatever kept me from it. I regret having missed years of opportunities. Please forgive me.

One of the things that has always made me admire you is that you are a man of faith, and even when society started objecting to the mention of anything spiritual, you were not silenced. If there is a reward in eternity for those who suffer in silence, I feel sure your name is on the list. Thank you for being my friend. I wish I had done a better job of returning the favor.

Was it Natural Reader, Don? Another is File Viewer Plus.

Are you trying to get something to read you the screen or to drop a file into?
